matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Merovingian)

Okay... so it's not "Citizen Kane"...

My fellow GAFFers will be hunting me down with brooms and shovels, and hurling bricks at me...

...I rented "Catwoman".

Now, I'm the kind of person who tries to let movies stand on their own merit and who refuses to let the reviews, good or bad, influence her judgement of a film. I've panned some films that got rave reviews, and I've cheered some films that the critics screamed at (Can you say "Revs"?).

I liked "Catwoman". I don't think it's the greatest movie ever made, but I enjoyed watching it. Sure, there were things that irked me about it: Hallie Berry's bare-it-all leather "costume" (It shows too much of her for comfort, especially if you're bi and you used to think Hallie was extremely attractive...); Lambert getting the sharp end of the stick: that bit alone made me want to see Sharon Stone die, and I was glad to see that.... But all in all, I liked it. I liked the characters, I liked the fight choreography, I liked the cinematography. Will it make the Ref Awards for 2004? No. Will I buy the DVD used someday? Maybe... (just for the short bits featuring a certain, ah, well-matured sexy French beast...)

I have to say this, just to get it off my chest and so I'll stop giggling about it:

Georges Hedare (aka Lambert) just might be the Merv's bourgeois twin. Sure, the accent is a lot more subdued than it was in Reloaded/Revs, and Hedare is a *lot* nastier, but hell, they got similar dominating personalities and they're both hedonists with class.

I'll be quiet now... ::Tee-hee-hee-hee-hee!!::
