matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Fourth of July)

Happy Birthday, U. S. of A.!!!

Starting off with a quiz nicked from [livejournal.com profile] dark_puck:

You Are 73% American
Most times you are proud to be an American.
Though sometimes the good ole US of A makes you cringe
Still, you know there's no place better suited to be your home.
You love your freedom and no one's going to take it away from you!

Hah! We got the same exact result. Go figure!

Well, I seem to be kicking this cold to the curb: I managed to get through my shift this afternoon without passing out, even though I sure felt like I was gonna. I managed to scare up the energy to help my dad cook the turkey-pork hotdogs for our indoor cookout (We have so many bugs in our backyard, it's impossible to have a backyard barbecque, thus we wind up cooking the hotdogs outside and eating *inside*.) Mom experimented with a jazzy new roasted red potato salad.

We broke with tradition slightly: usually, we watch the Boston Pops concert on TV, but this year they were doing wall-to-wall country music... so, since Ronan Tynan, of the Three Irish Tenors (and my personal favorite -- us disabled people with talent gotta stick together!) was supposed to be singing in the "Capitol Fourth" concert on PBS, we watched that. At nine, my dad and I went out to watch our town's fireworks display -- and some nut over on Wayside Road decided to get in on the fun and shoot off some roman candles, thus we had dueling fireworks. By the time we got back, the concert on PBS was over, and my mom had switched over to the Boston Pops concert. I got in just in time for the "1812 Overture". Says my mom, "There was a guy in the audience holding up a big sign that read, 'I'm just here for the 1812'." Says me, "That makes two of us!".

The Boston fireworks, following the Pops concert, were really cool this year: some of them were in wacky shapes, like slightly flattened cubes and cock-eyed/upside down smiley faces. They even used a couple of my current favorite songs: U2's "Vertigo" (I have *got* to think of a way to turn that into a filk about DC/Vertigo comics...) and Aerosmith's "Dream On" (which gave me some ideas for a "Sandman" vidscript.).

Edited to Add: Here's a neat webtoy I ran across, for those of you who might have missed any fireworks: http://www.maylin.net/Fireworks.html. And it's a teeny bit late, but I now have a lovely patriotic/4th of July icon.

Sorry for the intrusion!

I doubt you need these at the moment and already have what you want, but I saw a loonnggg time ago (a few months back) you wanted some caps of Lambert Wilson in Sahara.

A week back I downloaded the DVD RIP...V. good quality and no subbies.

If you have any requests, sure. Good to see someone appreciates Mr. Wilson. I believe he needs to get a new agent though; his acting talent has been wasted in many of the English speaking films he has appeared in. Too bad they aren't making any more Matrix sequels.

Anyways, if you still wanted them:

Thanks for the caps! I have to admit, I was starting to get a little worried when I hadn't heard back from you about these. (I agree with you about the roles he's been cast in, on this side of the pond. Fortunately, I'm LJ-friends with an LW fangurl from Europe who's seen all of his European-made films --no type-casting there! -- and has been pointing me toward the DVDs of those. If I ever get a better computer, I'm seriously tempted to screencap those.)

Actually, the "Matrix Online" role-playing game (which is now in progress; I'm not part of it *yet* but I'm working on that... in the meantime, I've been reading every news item I can get my hands on about what's going in in-game) is an extension of the storyline of the trilogy. They're even using LW's likeness, as the Merovingian, for some of the Events, and LW even recorded the Merv's speeches/dialogue for it.

Cool! Oh, btw i'm a third party person! The person who was offering Sahara caps never did reply back, I thought that a bit reckless on their part. =)

=O! That would be awesome to see some LW caps in the future from you! And good to hear he's not typecast, now i'm not afraid to perhaps watch a few myself.

Speaking of Matrix Online, I wish it wasn't pay per month, etc. Some of us are broke...or just wish for singleplayer with add-ons we can buy in store. =P And you cannot play as a programme..lol, I wanted to be Merv of one of the servers or something. I used to RP Matrix in chat lol, RPing Matrix as a game would be equally awesome. Hope you get jacked in soon. =) Maybe there is a stalktheMerv sidequest...
