"Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow"

Mark and I went out to see the one movie I've been waiting all summer long to see... "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". I didn't go expecting some deep, philosophical film (though there's arguably an element of "what happens when man tries to play God", but it isn't fully developed.) , but from all the promotional images I had seen, I was expecting something like the B-grade 1950s sci-fi flicks, or the sci-fi serials of the 1930s, not that I've seen many of those, but the stills from "Sky Captain" look remarkably like the stills from those B-grades. It's a film that certainly doesn't disappoint, as long as you go expecting to see some incredible visuals. The acting was a little slack (even Jude wasn't quite up to snuff, but yah gotta remember, he was going through Le Divorce aux Enfers at the time this was being shot), but nothing that detracted from the film. Lots of stunning images, lots of incredible flying scenes... WOW!!!

[fangurl squeeing] Starting to feel horribly depressed again, but at least I have sopme consolation in the funny image of one part Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude waking up in bed, discovering a third party has taken their clothes from them...

Gwyneth: "Stop looking at me like that... Get out of here!!!"
Jude: "Not unless you have some pants hidden somewhere. I checked."

What makes it even funnier is their big, hairy mountain guide is under the covers on the other side of Jude... Gad, the guy musta been twice Jude's size! Only made the Green-Eyed Hottie look even CUTER by contrast!! [/fangurl squeeing]
