Weather and road wierdness
So the road construction crew has part of the sidewalk torn up for some reason, and they're pumping the groundwater out of the resulting trenches, thus we have the throbbing grind of the pump going all day and night. And I had to walk in the street in order to get to work today. Other than that, it's quiet at our end of the street since the police have the road blocked off right at the intersection and just after our house.
And all afternoon we were having thunderstorms. I get to work, and they have the clear greenish shades drawn over the big front windows. Well, next thing you know, this huge black cloud-mass starts to move in, darkening the sky. A clap of thunder rattles the roof; thus, the cashier I was sacking for, "Lorrie" (not her real name), was getting excited, since she loves thunderstorms. She starts bugging one of the supervisors to put the shades back up so she could watch the lightning. Of course the kid refused, but then a second later, the store manager comes along and tells him to put the shades up. At least it's a little cooler now...
EDITED AT 12.43 AM TO ADD: Oh, and remember how I said "Angelica" the mean widdle kid my mother babysits was supposed to come here at 7.30 this morning?
She never showed up. No explanation from her parents. God, I hate it when they do that.
