MxO = Merv eXasperation Online?

I've been hearing on various MxO fansites that the MxO is going down, despite talks that it had simply shifted from Monolith to Sony, due to some sort of merger thing going on... My reaction has been, "Nuts, why am I bothering to buy a new computer if the MxO is just going belly-up? Not that it was my primary reason for getting the new comp..." Could someone give me the straight dope on what in Source's name is going on?
Thus, there are some members of the Houseparty who are puzzled by the concerns that I've had. Ref and Emily have both reacted thus: "There's another RPG about our world? I thought there already was one... [ie. DegSep]" The Keymaker has been busy making a lock and several spare keys for the door to the nursery, and has been blissfully ignorant of the to-do. We're leaving it that way, since the whole deal would boggle his simple, guileless, uncomplicated mind. (It's so nice to have a houseguest who doesn't have any ulterior motives, agendas, fixations or fetishes... He just *is*.) Jack isn't worrying over it; his reaction: "Well, it'll clear the Matrix of these Mary-Sues you keep grumbling about." ::Said in a teasing tone of voice::
The Merv and Flood have had completely different reactions. Flood was relieved, since he figured it would mean "an end to the dreadfully executed photos people have been taking of me." (ie, screenshots some folks have made during gameplay, and the one frontal headshot of him that turned up on the official news site; he really hated that one. Tough luck, fella: I liked it and I'm making an icon based on it.)
The Merv is at one in the same time relieved and vexed. Vexed because the whole matter is so up in the air, relieved because it may mean the end of his being "constantly villified and demonized" (his words, not mine). Now, while he and I agree that the game developers seem to be biased to favor the Zion faction, to the detriment of the other two (though neither of us really wants to see them start favoring the Machine faction, either. Gee, I wonder why...), I disagree with him on his being "demonized". I'm of the opinion that he demonized himself; he dodges the issue, and lays the blame on the canon writers. He still has a bounty out on Paul Chadwick's head. I wish he'd drop it, if only so I can stop hearing him think out loud about someone bringing him "ze head of zat disreputable fiction-writer on a silver platter."
