Killed by Cute Poisonous Fish
Jul. 13th, 2005 01:24 am::Siggh...:: I was *THIIIS* close to finally getting "Illinois Brown" through The Pharaoh's Tomb alive, only to be done in by the cute killer fish jumping across his path. At least that beat getting killed by the maddening floating zombie that made the wierd moan that put my teeth on edge. Oh well... I might try again tomorrow. *Might*, as I have an appointment in Lowell with my therapist in the morning, and I have to work, plus tomorrow night is my night to wash dishes.
I've been reducing the load of chapters to type, on my pagestand, sloowly but surely. I typed up the last chapter of "The Smoke of Satan...", in a bid to at least lighten the load. I might tackle the shorter chapters first, just to get more of it off my mind. This is what makes it hard to write/finish multi-chapter fics: If you write it out all at once, it makes the load at the end seem that much heavier. I generally type each chapter as I finish it, but this time, the story wrote itself out so fast -- once I got past a block in Chapter 4 -- that I left myself panting with exhaustion when I realized how much typing I had ahead of me.
Between last night after work and today, I took a stab at a couple new fics: First, the "Constantine" fic Puck and I have been tinkering with. I'm writing Constantine and Chaz's scenes/dialogue, she's writing an original character who is *NOT* a Mary Sue (Signs that she ain't a Sue: She doesn't show up on page one, she's a tough gal who can pretty much take care of herself, and Constantine does *not* fall in LUURRVE with her, though Chaz -- the far more flammable of the two -- gets interested in her, after a little while).
( The Smoky Member of the Houseparty on Love )
I also took a stab at "L'Homme Fatal" (Pardon my *bad* French...), Part Two of the soon-to-be-epic-length fic I'm twiddling with, dealing with the Merv's background (I know what you're thinking: What about Part One? Each part will deal with a corresponding iteration of the Matrix, and I'm a little daunted with the prospects of Part One right now, since that's set in the Paradise. And our fomer Regional Master Program for the European Sector was busy taking over the construct...). It's partly a DegSep fic, partly a fill-in-the-700-years-worth-of-blank-space which the Brothers Wachowski and Paul "Canon Casualties" Chadwick are being so tantalizingly silent about it.
And I went for a walk this morning to run some small errands with my mom. On the way back, we spotted this odd, flat, white object lying on the sidewalk ahead of us. I got up close to it and found it was a flat soft sculpture of a Hallowe'en ghost with an orange ribbon around his neck. Leave it to the goth to find a ghost! And yes, I took the wee little ghostie home. Once he has a bath in the washing machine, he'll make a nice little addition to our Hallowe'en display...
