Giant turkeys and no Merlot
Nov. 23rd, 2005 03:58 pmA conservative estimate on the amount of stuff I bagged: 4,000 lbs. Not sure what that would be in kilos, but that's about the weight of a couple of small cars, or a pair of Belgian draft horses. And that amount includes turkeys. The news stations have been reporting a shortage on turkeys weighing more than 20 pounds, since all the turkey farms are in the south and they've had hot/stormy weather all season, which makes the birds nervous and thus they stop eating. Well, if you can't find any big turkeys, try the Oakdale Mall store: we've got plenty, I can attest to that.
And I went looking for Sutter Home's Fre Merlot for dinner tomorrow (if we're having it at all, since my poor mother is still sick), but I couldn't find it, so I tried next door at the liquor store, on my way home from work. Not to be had, even after I asked one of the clerks to help me find it. I did manage to pick up an alcohol-removed Cabernet Sauvignon (can't remember the brand), but even still a certain member of the Houseparty started cursing in French.
