And heaven knows there's a lot going on:
--Beside the Devil's Advocates/Trig Meritocracy merger, we've had a sensational number of new recruits, despite the fact that we revamped the application process: besides applying at the faction forum ((Here, in case you're curious)) and being interviewed by three captains, potentials have to perform three fairly simple tasks to prove their capabilities. And despite the fact that a Merv faction full of drama queens tried to take us down. I won't get into that, since I'm really not supposed to be talking about it. If any of you who had anything to do with that series of incidents happen to be reading this, I am merely expressing my personal opinion in my personal journal. If you're going to bad mouth me for it, then all I can say is that your opinion stinks to me as much as my opinion stinks to you. Kthanxbi.
--Organization areas! Probably the best thing the devs gave us since the combat system revamp: each of the three organizations has it's own area for meetings, etc. to be conducted in private with no interference from idiots outside. And thus the Mervs have a wing of the Master's Chateau for their personal use. It's doubtlessly the prettiest of the three org areas: Zion has a beat-up warehouse area; Machines got a sterile office area. We got luxurious rooms with tons of bookshelves and comfy couches and walls full of swords and such... and a hidden door leading to -- ta-da! -- the dungeon.
--Archival Missions: all the critical missions of all three organizations are availible via archive tickets (which sort of look like futuristic stopwatches), so you can revisit the history of the Pax Neo and also earn tokens toward some neat unique items... such as the lovely Demon Army Trenchcoat you can earn for running all the Merv Archivals, and the Non-Infectious Flame Virus, which I've been using for RP purposes. More about that Flame Virus in a bit.
--The best Live Event ever: helping guard Persephone as she served as bait to trap an infatuated enemy. Price. Less.
--"Roasting" my crew captain: the DA has a new tradition of hosting a party to celebrate a member hitting level 50 (the current level cap). Well, when GreatWyrm, captain of the Draconigena and my least favorite fellow DA member, hit lvl 50 a couple weeks ago, which we celebrated by hosting a mock funeral for him. That gave us all a chance to spout all the things we never dared to say to his face, and it really helped Sieges/me to blow off some much-needed steam. Wyrm is that kind of pompous arse that you just love to hate, and the guy who RPs him does an utterly bang-up job doing it (he's really a good guy, OOC, he just plays a malevolent bastard).
--Sieges now has a dark side: Now that's a tough act to keep up, but it's really helped deepen her character even more. She still has her innocence and optimism, but she's starting to toughen up in a (mostly) good way; I just hope her innocence can temper her dark side without removing Morraeon's (metaphoric) fangs and (anything but metaphoric) claws (wish we had the ability to tweak our RSIs to show modifications like that...). And this is where the Flame Virus comes into play: I activate it when her dark side is coming to the surface, that and also the jackout animation, plus changing her outfit from her usual gothic-gangsterish shirt/vest combo, trenchcoat and fedora to a slinky little black dress.
--My first ever Player Event: "Mistaken Identity, or 'Every Which Way *Including* Loose'", in which the Advocates spent three crazy nights chasing after a companion program who'd escaped from Sieges's personal construct into the Matrix after she decided to remove him pending the day she marries Nucl3ar, her crew member and 'white knight'.
And there's more fun stuff to come, including:
--the further adventures of Sieges/Morraeon. Her captain isn't fond of self-modifying AIs, such as things like Morraeon, and if he finds out about her presence in Sieges's brain, who knows what will happen....
--WGAnubis's "Dark City" tribute for Hallowe'en. When we were discussing some other event being planned, I made mention of the 1998 reality-bending sci-fi noir movie "Dark City", which is sometimes credited as an influence on the "Matrix" series. Then out of the blue, Anubis, our faction leader, came up with the idea to hold a free-form RP event in which a bunch of us would craft characters who resemble the Strangers, hinting that these guys might be some sort of prototype Agents from the Second Matrix (which by all accounts was a very hellish place). I'll be taking part in this event, which I'll be telling you more about in the weeks ahead.
