Trying something new with my writing

The public library started a writing group that meets every other week... so I thought I'd give it a shot. I've always wanted to join a writing group, so now's my chance. I doubt it'll be like, say, the Inklings, ie. the group tha J.R.R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis and Charles Williams hung out with, and I have a feeling I'll probably be the only sci-fi/fantasty writer in the group, but who knows? This could be the start of something that'll help me get over my block about trying to get published.

Not a complete waste of time...

...Unfortunately, I picked a bad week to go to the writing group meeting: the girl who's doing it is visiting family on Martha's Vinyard, so only one other person showed up, an older woman who writes lovely little human interest pieces. She shared a few pieces with me: I, unfortunately, hadn't brought any of my own writing with me except for a journal full of jotting. Better luck next time!
