matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (ANTI Valentine's day)
WEDNESDAY: One of the Christmas presents my dad gave to my mom and I was a pair of gift cards to a used book store that opened in Burlington. Found several books, including the Jane Austen-era Gothic thriller "The Monk" (I think she alludes to it in "Northanger Abbey"), also a Hallowe'en short story collection edited by Martin Greenberg, and one of my favorites, Joanne Harris's scrumptious "Chocolat".

YESTERDAY: For Christmas, I'd planned to get my mom a Hello Kitty plushie at the Build-A-Bear in the Burlington Mall, but that somehow never gelled in the days and weeks right after Christmas. But I was on a mission to get a microphone for my computer, and I thought "Hey, get her one for Valentine's Day. And then when I came home, I discovered she was washing the kitchen floor. No way I was going to smuggle a large box containing an 18-inch white plush kitty. I hid it in our back entryway, but it got on my conscience: I left Hello Kitty out in the cold! So at dinner, I surprised her with her "late Christmas/early Valentine's Day" present. She went crazy over it like I'd hoped she would; I walked through the living room just now to find her cuddled with Hello Kitty.

And ye draggies need their clickies: they're growing so fast this time, it's amazing!
