Marginally better...
Mar. 22nd, 2009 08:14 pmBut not by much: I had a crying jag at Mass, for no reason at all. I'm tempted to follow the examples of the hermits of the early Church and go off into the desert. It's hard to find God when I'm sardined in a church with a hyperactive little boy bouncing up and down next to me. I feel like retiring to a Trappist monastery or even a Buddhist monastery in Tibet. And I really need to find a belief system that puts less emphasis on family than it does on the individual. My path to holiness does not depend on my reproductive tract, thank you very much.
The upside: The choir sang the "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" from Giuseppe Verdi's "Nabucco", one of my favorites. Very nice choice, though some might think it odd to sing in church (not really, as the text is taken from the Psalms).
