It's been quietly lately. It's been so warm that I've been staying indoors, out of the sun, reading -- when I haven't been startled by 100 motorcycles going by the house! (Don't know what that was about...)

*Still reading "Timeline". I *must* be more dilligent reading that, since my mom is about to start reading it, but I got myself addicted to --

*The second "Griffin and Sabine" trilogy by Nick Bantock. I love his artwork and his formats for his books. I also finished reading his "The Venetian's Wife". I got a little annoyed with it on account of the "evil, narrow-minded Vatican officials who hate near-erotic artwork" plot device; there may be some screwy people in the Vatican hierarchy, but they aren't all like that, unless this was inspired by the nitwits who turned up their noses over the symbolic nudity in Michaelangelo's "Sistine Chapel Last Judgement" and hired a guy to paint over the "parts". Ironic that this book was published at the same time that His Holiness Pope John Paul II ordered the restoration of the Sistine Last Judgement, including the careful, careful removal of the overpainting. Nevertheless, there's some very interesting plot twists in this book! (I'm not gonna tell you what they are, but it's a little bit science fictional)

There's two hurricanes floating around out there, and one of 'em, "Charlie" (what a dumb name for a hurricane...) might hit by Sunday. I'm expecting Saturday night at the grocery store will be super-crazy, since people will be stocking up on canned soup and veggies and canned milk, or that kind in the fancy boxes that you don't have to refrigerate as long as it hasn't been opened. Do they still package it that way? I seem to remember the company that does that was having legal troubles of some kind, though of course it was overshaadowed by the Microsoft anti-trust case and of course the Martha [BLEEAH!] Stewart trial. Good luck in Federal prison, Martha...

Enough rambling: I've got some chat logs to edit for the "Vatican Council" series...
