Pre-St. Patrick's Day Blizzard-ness
Mar. 16th, 2007 09:33 amThus, today and yesterday were insanely busy at work. Everyone was rushing out to buy their corned beef and cabbage and stock up because of the snowstorm. After the infamous Blizzard of 1978, when people got stuck in their houses with not much food, no one takes any chances around here. And then we ran out of cabbage yesterday. So people were buying romaine lettuce and bak choy ("Chinese cabbage") -- I kid you not! -- and anything that remotely looked cabbage-y. I swear, we could have wadded up some green kleenex and called it cabbage, and people would have bought it. I'll take praties with their jackets on, any day.
I'm plugging away at "The Death God's Daughter", but the plot is being elusive for the moment. I'll find it eventually: in the meantime, I'm having fun writing conversations between Dana and Theda -- with occasional interruptions from Vincent the dragon and Theda's father Mamnon.
Also have read "Storm Front" and "Fool Moon" of the Dresden Files books and am now reading "Grave Peril"... just in time for the next episode of the TV series to appear to be a screen version of the former. I wonder if they're going to truncate it or make it into a two-parter. I hope for the latter!
In the spirit of borrowing trouble, I keep having bad mental images of some teenybopper RPGer butting in on someone's "Dresden Files" RP (since the official manual for it is in a state of being written) with a bad Anne Rice-knock off vampire in the Red Court. White Court or Black Court, maybe, but not the Red Court. No "Diabolique"s, s'il-vous plait.
