matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Alucard with hellhound)
[personal profile] matrixrefugee
So at seven-thirty this morning, the Major Pain in the Neck calls, waking us out of a collective sound sleep, to tell me that I didn't have to come in this morning. Too snowy and the roads were too rough. I used my time wisely, catching up on sleep and also working on typing up more of "An Issue of Blood". Got in some snow-shovelling and part of the exercise routine assigned to me by the appropriately named Mr. Goodchild at Active Healing. This is just a preliminary before he actually sets up a program specifically tailored to me, but already, I'm starting to see some results. I'm feeling a lot calmer and I'm not dreading going back to work tomorrow.

I also *finally* finished reading Richelle Mead's "Vampire Academy". Dare I say, it's like a cross between the first "Underworld" movie and the Harry Potter books, only *MUCH* better-written. I particularly liked the small subplot involving St. Vladimir, the saintly vampire. I've seen vampire priests before (usually horribly done), but a vampire saint is something very original! The characters are a lot of fun -- I'm quietly crushing on Christian, since he reminds me not a bit of my wierd friend "Vanil", right down to the cynicism masking how sensitive he really is -- and I'm looking forward to seeing how they grow when the next book comes out.
