Whoops... I was trying to be vague in case the person who's getting the book read this and figured out what I'm planning, but I guess I *too* vague.
I was flipping through a copy of a verrrry hard to find collection of L.M. Montgomery's short stories, which I'd bought used from Amazon.com, when I discovered that someone, possibly the previous owner, had gone through one of the stories and crossed out the name of the main character, which was "Sidney" and penciled "Cindy" above it every single time it appeared. I've since discovered they did the same thing in another story in the same book, only this time it was crossing out "Kitty" and penciling in "Katie". It's not enough to really damage the book, but it is a bit "Buh?"-inducing.
