Glegh...

Woke up this morning with a scratchy throat and I have been barely functional all day. I just hope I can pull together a bit so I can make it to work tomorrow. Spent much of the day napping and trawling TVTropes.org -- and adding more random YnM entries to the latter. Gotta spread the cute shinigami love; still trying to decide if my list of the understandable-to-"Bzuh?"-inducing edits which the SciFi Channel made to the anime come under Executive Meddling or Bowlderization.

If the change was due to the original being something that might've been too much for the poor widdle Americans (I say Americans since a) they're the ones doing the editing and b)American media seems a lot more squeemish then British media) and/or aggrivate the moral guardians, then it's Bowlderization. If the reason for the change is unfathomable, pointless and/or stupid, then it's ExecutiveMeddling. I think that's how it works anyway.

Mm, most of the edits come under Bowlderization (eg. blacking out a nude male shot in the opening credits, even though no naughty bits were visible; cutting one of Muraki's creepy "come hither" lines), but one edit managed to be both Bowlderization and Executive Meddling (ie. cutting a bit of underage drunkenness which is initially played for laughs, but then becomes "aww, poor kid", but the cut makes the character's subsequent hangover in the following scene a bit "Huh? what happened"?
