Okay, jump-starting this meme...

Day 2 – Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.

I'll post about the fandoms I've written a minimum of five fanfics for: I've done a lot of solitary one-shots for a lot fandoms here and there and that could make this reply even longer.

The Matrix - This was the first fandom I started writing for, and despite how deep a fan I am/was of it, I've written relatively a small number of fics (unless one counts the hoodles of stuff I wrote for The Matrix Online, when I was fleshing out my character there). Aside from "Motion to Deactivate", most of it has been very short fic, things written for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days prompts and such. This is one fandom I may get back to writing in, but I think I'd need to do a canon review first, just for old time's sake.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence - This is where I hit my stride with fanfiction; I've cranked out three multi-chaptered fic series based on this movie: "Zenon Eyes" was the first one, in which I showed the genesis of Gigolo Joe, aka "the green-eyed love machine" or "the silicon hottie"; the Cecie Martin series, which dealt with one gal's journey of self-discovery in Rouge City; and three fics dealing with Henry Swinton, to say nothing of three crossovers and several one-shots.

Neil Gaiman - I discovered GNeil's early short story dealing with the Holy Grail in an anthology of modern fantasy short stories dealing with the Grail back in my mid-teens when I was trying to collect all the Grail legends into one huge pseudo-epic poem, and I'd later rediscover his writing after I heard him speak at WorldCon in 2004. I took a break of several years from fanfic, but in that time, I scribbled down a few odds and ends of Sandman fic. More recently, I've written several American Gods fics, and I plan to write more dealing with other gods who didn't make it into the book.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - I came out of a fanfic hiatus of several years when I started watching anime in 2008. This and Cowboy Bebop were among the first series I watched, and this one just grabbed me. I'm still not quite what it all means, but I'm certainly not alone! At the time, I was developing an interest in the Grigori angels and so I decided to write an "apocrypha" to the anime, "Neon Enoch Evangelion", in which SEELE's strings are ultimately being pulled by a cabal of Angels who'd taken on human forms (think of a whole tribe of beings like adult versions of Kaworu), with the purpose of pitting the humans against the Angels. The fic isn't finished by any stretch of the imagination, but I had fun writing it, and you can kind of figure out the story from reading the fragments that exist.

Yami no Matsuei - Aka. the Fandom I Cannot Stop Writing for. The sheer number of huge plot holes in the canon beg a fan to patch it up and try to make it more coherent. My first fic was a crossover with "Twilight", which grew past the usual "X from Y introduces Eddie-kins to Mister Pointy" into a whole story of its own and from there, I started writing one-shots of various lengths, from drabbles to longer fics. I'm currently working on a fic dealing with Muraki's checkered past, for the [livejournal.com profile] vampirebigbang challenge, and I've got maybe 6K words out of 20K typed up.

Gormenghast - This is a fun fandom to write for since there's such a tiny amount of fanfic for it and the book offers a lot of opportunity for fanfiction. I've written mostly one-shots for it (including several from Titus Groan's POV: I swear I'm the only Titus fangirl out there), my personal favorite being "In My Lady's Chamber", a delightfully gauche bit of Fuschia/Prunesquallor wackiness, but I plan to write more of 'em. One work in progress is a mini-series fic dealing with Steerpike's unnamed mother and how she attracted the attention of an emo book-loving Earl.

Supernatural - My first [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic ever was an SPN fic in which the boys find themselves on trial for witchcraft in colonial era Salem, Massachusetts, and since then, I've been poking at prompts that catch my attention (and I have to admit, the sheer number on [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic can be a bit dizzying and even disheartening since it seems to push the other fandoms out of sight).

Inception - This movie inflamed my creativity at least as much as "The Matrix" and for the same exact reason: I've written a lot of short fics for [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic as well as some fics for [livejournal.com profile] story_lottery, and I plan to write some crossover fics as well, my favorite being a crossover with "Twilight" which I intend to expand on. Any universe that deals with dreams and reality and the nature thereof is perfect for crossing over with most any universe!

Day 1 – How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

3 – For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?
4 – Do you have a "muse" character, that speaks to you more than others, or that tries to push their way in, even when the fic isn't about them? Who are they, and why did that character became your muse?
5 – If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?
6 – When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?
7 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
8 – Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they're not Mary Sues, and if not, explain your thoughts on OCs.
9 – Pairings – For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?
10 – Pairings – Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?
11 – Genre – do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most?
12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?
13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?
14 – Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?
15 – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?
16 – Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?
17 – Titles – Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?
18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?
19 – When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?
20 – Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?
21 – Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?
22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?
23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
25 – Music – Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
26 – What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?
27 – Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?
28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?
29 – What is your current project or projects?
30 – Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!
