Yeah, it's been a rough time in my neck of the woods: A lovely French church in Lowell got shut down last summer, and people in a few churches/parishes in other towns have been hanging on by their fingernails, holding vigils and prayer services in their churches, trying to keep the doors open. The bishop in charge (the model for Mallegant, though Mallegant looks *nothing* like him) handled the closings very badly, so now the Vatican is coming down hard on him (though now that John Paul II has passed away, the inquest on that mismanagement has been suspended until after the next Pope is elected). A few parishes have actually been taken off the list of ones slated for closing, but alas, my home parish is not one of those fortunates... yet.
And giving the exorcist the last name Crowley was semi-intentional: I was waiting for someone to get the reference. Wierd/clever name for an exorcist, no? ;8^D
