matrixrefugeeWow... this has been the best Hallowe'en yet!
This afternoon, my folks and I went for a leaf-peeking/Hallowe'en decoration-looking drive in the Mustang convertible through the Concord, Mass. area... It was a perfect day for it: the tempurature snuck up near sixty degrees (good news for the trick-or-treaters, who won't have to bundle coats on over their costumes) Then when we got back, I finished putting up the last of the decorations, specifically our Hallowe'en tree, a unique decoration I invented last year, inspired by Ray Bradbury's novel "The Halloween Tree": You take a dead branch, prop it up in a pail of sand in your house, and drape it with pumpkin lights (those white Christmas-type lights with little plastic jack-o'lantern housings on them).
And lastly, I finished decorating myself, ie. putting on the gothic/Egyptian eye make-up Death wears in "The Sandman" series. I think my costume came out great, and since I was careful to have my mom take pictures, you'll all be able to see it (as soon as I get the pictures developed).
About six p.m., I headed out to take a walk through the neighborhood, looking at the Hallowe'en decorations and following the groups of trick-or-treaters. I must have looked like a mere perky goth to the folks out there, though I was hoping someone would figure out who I was supposed to be. Ah well!
It got better: when I got back, my dad had lit a fire in the fireplace he rigged up out of bricks in the front yard and was roasting hot dogs on it -- though I insisted said hot dogs were "Hallo-wieners" (get it??). The three of us had supper outside and read ghost stories, while we had some spooky music playing on the CD player on the Mustang.
And... the local Blockbuster Video finally got in their copy of "The Nightmare Before Christmas", which I snagged the other day... Just finished watching it: what a hoot!!! Hallowe'en and Christmas together: hee-hee-hee-hee!!!
