matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Aslan)

Website updates and other projects

I finally managed to update the AIFFOA when I was in Lowell: I was actually able to get onto one of the library computers with the one-hour timer, since the kids are back in school and are no longer hogging the computers. I *tried* to update it last week, but I was stuck using the "E-Mail Only" computer, which gives you only 15 minutes of time, and then it's sooo daaaarrrnnn sssslllloooowww that you wind up spending most of that 15 minutes waiting for the bloody pages to load. I'd loaded Patric Lepage and Danielle Swinton's new fic onto the site, but I didn't get enough time to add the link to it, so I took care of that and linked the "A.I." fics I'd written for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days.

I also nicked into Larry's Comics to get the next issue of "Neverwhere": said Larry, as I entered: "Neverwhere's here! The Gaimanite is here!", which made me laugh.

I managed to find a minute to nick into the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop, in the hopes of finding the Red Shirt I'm looking for... I found a couple, but one was the wrong material (canvas, when I'm looking for cotton-poly broadcloth -- shuttit, Merv! I ain't buying silk, no matter how much you grumble) and the other would have fit the Merv, but not me (I'm eight inches shorter and about forty pounds lighter than him).

I also had to buy Alavert, since I was dangerously low on that, so I nipped into Wal-Mart when my folks were grocery-shopping tonight. I also found the soundtrack to "Collateral", which I'd been looking for. What a great mix of tunes...

Once I got home, I started feverishly typing (and writing one of) today's fics... I'm a little annoyed that they're getting tough about posting late, since it puts more pressure on me, but I'll find a way to manage.

I see you've taken my advice regarding the Merv. You've got to show him who's boss,it's your head he's in after all. I wish there was a shop like Larry's near me. The only comic shop I know about is Forbidden Planet, although when I go back to Uni there's always the Most Chaotic Shop On Earth, and belive me, it's earned the capitals.

Hm! There's a comic book and sci-fi memoribillia shop called Forbidden Planet in the Greenwich Village section of New York City (I nipped into it when my dad and I were down there in 2002: *great* place!), wonder if it's any relation... (probably not, but who knows?)

And that name "Most Chaotic Shop On Earth" made me smile, though I imagine the reasons for that name would put one's teeth on edge! I've known some shops that could share that name, at least as a sub-name of some kind...

I think Forbidden Planet is a chain since I know of at least three or four. It's okay but I suspect that they over price things. Then again maybe I'm just tight. The Most Chaotic Shop On Earth isn't that bad really. It just seems like the guy who owns it ran out of shelf space some time ago but didn't let it slow him down. There's boxes piled up everywhere although I've been assured by a friend of mine that the guy knows where everything is so you just have to ask him. It's kinda hard to move around so it's not a good idea to go in with a backpack full of shopping. I can't remember what it's really called. I think it sounds like something out of a old RPG. By the way I like your new icon. It's a great quote.
