I have to be honest: this movie may not exactly be "Citizen Kane" or "The Godfather", but it's not as bad as some of the critics have made it out to be. It's fun to watch (and is it me, or would Gabriel Macht make an interesting Harry Dresden? He's not exactly tall enough, but he has the look and he looks good in a long billowing coat), the cinematography is cool (even if it looks a little too much like "Sin City" at times), the script is a bit uneven, but the actors manage to make it engaging (Hey, it's got Samuel L. Jackson as the big bad of the piece: he took "Snakes on a Plane" and turned it into something incredible). It managed to capture Will Eisner's at times quirkily bizarre humor. The behind-the-scenes documentary was very interesting: turns out Will Eisner was Frank Miller's mentor, even though they disagreed very widely on a lot of things. I can definitely see that happening: Will Eisner has this innate sense of the good hiding in every human being, even the most crooked and depraved, and Miller has a sense of the dark shadows even the best of us try to hide. I've read comics by both and I have to say, they're almost the yin to each other's yang, flip sides of the same coin.

My long-awaited copy of issue #2 of the Dresden Files graphic novel just showed up in the mail. The money order I'd sent out got lost and had to issue a stop payment on it, and I'll have to get a cashier's check, the better to keep it from falling into the wrong hands, but I have it after all this scrimmigeing around for it. Thank you, Lord! :: Goes to re-read it for the third time::

I'd sworn up and down that I was going to wait till October to get the compilation of "Welcome to the Jungle", the new Dresden Files graphic novel...

But, I knuckled down and made the trip to Larry's Comics the other day, first time I'd been there since the fall. Said Larry, with a big grin, on seeing me, "Oh, I know what *you're* here for: Dresden Files."

Also made a trip to the GameStop in Burlington and finally got the copy of Hellgate: London I was going to get myself as an Easter present/"Thank God Jack Thompson got tossed out of the Florida Bar Association like yesterday's news" celebration gift. I have to admit, this is a little more intense than I usually go for, but I've heard nothing but good things about it from my gamer-geek friends.

Made the trek to Larry's Comics today, for the first time in months. Larry himself asked me where I'd been; I admitted that I kept meaning to be less of a stranger, but stuff got in the way. My main goal: getting the first issue of the "Supernatural" comic-book series prequel/tie-in. Just been reading it, and it reads almost like "Road to Perdition" with spooks instead of gangsters.

Went to confession... all I'll say is, I felt like I was in some sort of alternate universe version of the Prodigal Son, where instead of the father, the older brother shows up at the door to meet him when he comes home. I managed, but I'm afraid the incident is adding to the problems I already have.

Also did my Mother's Day shopping -- Godiva Chocolates and a weensy ruby-throated hummingbird plushie for my mom; he's bigger than a real one, but I think she'll *LOVE* having him for a pet. And surprise, surprise: the DVD store in the Burlington Mall actually had the first of the "Hellsing" OVA. I'm slightly in shock now, plus the new volume of the "Fullmetal Alchemist" manga is out now

Finally fixed the timing problem on the anti-Damned Book icon and I also discovered I needed to compress the animation to make it fit on the site. LiveJournal can be pretty picky about file sizes which gives me a heads up on the next project I decided to break up the last frame into three, which makes it somehow more dramatic. Here's one for the biggest literary con artist of all time.

In and out of Lowell the past couple days: yesterday, I was bringing back some overdue CDs (ouch) and today I had an appointment with my therapist. Also (yesterday) I nipped into Larry's Comics for my once-a-month-therabouts visit and picked up the May issue of "Hellblazer" and an odd volume I hadn't noticed before, "Neil Gaiman's Midnight Days", featuring several stray DC/Vertigo items that Neil scripted, including an odd issue of "Hellblazer" (which was reprinted with the comic version of
"Constantine", but the little introduction that they added for this collection was clever, so I don't mind having the same story in two different books), a few stories from the "Swamp Thing" series (which I'm not familiar with, aside from the Swamp Thing's cameo in "Black Orchid" and aside from the knowledge that John Constantine first appeared in the "American Gothic" story arc of ST), and a mini-series from the "Sandman Mystery Theatre", in which Wesley "the Sandman" Dodds of the Golden Age of DC Comics briefly crosses paths with the King of the Dreaming, from a certain series that helped launch the Vertigo line...

(Which reminds me, I took it into my head to animate my Vertigo logo icon so that it spins. Don't ask me what posessed me to do that -- maybe the mischievous part of me wants to make you, my readers, dizzy. I may or may not upload it. We'll see...)

Deposited the check I got yesterday. Being the fairly frugal person that I am, I'm putting *that* much money aside for any emergencies that arise. Tomorrow, I'll be at work taking back more of my hard-earned cash from the government: as in filing my income tax forms. My reward for that: working on a fanfictionalization of an MxO chat session from the other night.

And while I was downtown dropping off some books and depositing the check, I nipped over to Larry's Comics to see if the errant issues of Hellblazer had ever shown up. Not yet, and I was sorely tempted to get the first volume of Alan Moore's Promethea.

And it isn't often that I ask for prayers, but I've got a big intention that needs to be prayed for: [livejournal.com profile] he_dreams_awake and [livejournal.com profile] allegradestina need to find a place to live very soon. The details are too complicated for me to describe, but they really need a hand up from above: they're a compassionate, hard-working pair who've unfortunately been kicked on their ears by someone they thought they could trust. Call out to St. Joseph and St. Jude and St. Anthony and the Infant of Prague and St. Maximilian Kolbe (my "Uncle Max") on their behalf.

Good news at the dentist: No new cavities to be seen. WHEW!!! I've gotten paranoid since the three little pinholes showed up over the summer, but I've been brushing my teeth religiously since then (the joys of rotary brushes...)

Went to the library downtown and downloaded/burned onto CD-R a copy of [livejournal.com profile] he_dreams_awake's "Gnosis", a computer game you can get via his site. I only just installed it earlier this evening, and I have yet to actually play it, though (If I'd just stay away from the dumb Tinkertoy for a while...)

Also nipped into Larry's Comics, which I haven't done since, what, before Thanksgiving? I made up for it: Got the next two issues of "Neverwhere" and the March and April issues of "Hellblazer", as well as Alan Moore's "V for Vendetta"; yep, I'll be seeing the movie when it comes out: would a Vertigeek who likes the work of the Wachowski Brothers do otherwise? I've got high hopes for that movie, and I'm already enjoying the graphic novel immensely. I can see why the W Bros chose to direct a movie based on this GN: The storyline is right up their alley, complete with subverting the system and brain-bending moments that help a character free their mind... (The movie also has Hugo Weaving as V's voice talent, though I've heard that Hugo and Chad Stahelski, Keanu Reeves's stand-in/stunt double from "Reloaded" and "Revs", juggled duties as the man under the mask. Question: Will Don Davis do the music? He did only half the stuff for the MxO, and he didn't do the music for "Path of Neo". Trouble is, a W Bros. production without Don Davis is like a Spielberg movie without a John Williams score.)

And good news from the Tinkertoy: One of Siegy's crewmates put in a good word for her with a certain someone... We'll see where that goes.

And in my busy-ness, I completely failed to look at my friends list. I'll be tuned into Radio Zero-One tomorrow night, I promise!

...I had a good day today: I went downtown to take care of some library business (dropping books off, picking up a couple, including one very intriguing one on "The Science of Vampires", which offers a few insights on how the bloodsuckers might really work). I also nipped over to Larry's Comics: Too bad I couldn't go back later in the day, since they're having a book-signing party for a brand new comic which several Lowell-based artists are putting together. An idea for a comic has been nibbling at my brain, so I'm tempted to pitch it to them, see what happens. I'll wait till they get themselves established, but they seem to have a good running start, according to Kris the Comic Junkie. One of the major comic expos picked up their comic and was very excited about it. Meanwhile, I picked up the November issues of "Neverwhere" and "Hellblazer", as well as "The Sandman Book 2: A Doll's House". Hard to believe it was just last year when I started getting hooked on Neil Gaiman's stuff.

I also nipped into the Barnes & Noble downtown: they've got the coffee-table size book of the script and artwork for "Mirrormask", which I'm getting myself for Hallowe'en, since I don't think I'll be heading down to Cambridge to see it. There's been a rapist on the loose there, and I don't dare risk taking the T.

Also made it to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop: the Merv is ecstatic, since I found a black dress shirt there (he muttere momentarily when it turned out to be collarless, but he's not particularly picky about the cut, just the materials...), and Flood is moderately enthused: I found a grey vest, but then I had to listen to him carp about how it's slate grey twill instead of dove grey silk or wool.

And *then*, as I started heading home, it started raining, horizontal rain since the wind had kicked up. I was actually glad that I forgot my umbrella: I was watching other people walking by who were wrestling with their own umbrellas and having them turned inside out by the gusts of wind. Luckily, I found a tree to stand under while I was waiting for the bus, so I managed to stay dry. But while I was on the bus, the rain started coming down in buckets, thus I had to scramble between the raindrops to get to my door.

Spent the evening working on various fanfic projects and helping my mother frost an angel cake for my dad's name day (St. Michael the Archangel).

The only dark spot: I found this neat free online RPG "Runescape", which looked like a lot of fun... but when I went to access it via my comp, my wretched firewall gagged on it (I'd adjust the firewall settings, but for some wierd reason, it won't let me. Yet another problem with this comp...).

I finally managed to update the AIFFOA when I was in Lowell: I was actually able to get onto one of the library computers with the one-hour timer, since the kids are back in school and are no longer hogging the computers. I *tried* to update it last week, but I was stuck using the "E-Mail Only" computer, which gives you only 15 minutes of time, and then it's sooo daaaarrrnnn sssslllloooowww that you wind up spending most of that 15 minutes waiting for the bloody pages to load. I'd loaded Patric Lepage and Danielle Swinton's new fic onto the site, but I didn't get enough time to add the link to it, so I took care of that and linked the "A.I." fics I'd written for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days.

I also nicked into Larry's Comics to get the next issue of "Neverwhere": said Larry, as I entered: "Neverwhere's here! The Gaimanite is here!", which made me laugh.

I managed to find a minute to nick into the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop, in the hopes of finding the Red Shirt I'm looking for... I found a couple, but one was the wrong material (canvas, when I'm looking for cotton-poly broadcloth -- shuttit, Merv! I ain't buying silk, no matter how much you grumble) and the other would have fit the Merv, but not me (I'm eight inches shorter and about forty pounds lighter than him).

I also had to buy Alavert, since I was dangerously low on that, so I nipped into Wal-Mart when my folks were grocery-shopping tonight. I also found the soundtrack to "Collateral", which I'd been looking for. What a great mix of tunes...

Once I got home, I started feverishly typing (and writing one of) today's fics... I'm a little annoyed that they're getting tough about posting late, since it puts more pressure on me, but I'll find a way to manage.
matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Hellblazer)
I managed to add Patric Lepage's new "A.I." fic to the AIFFOA, but since I was updating the site via the sssslllllooooowwww computers at the library in Lowell, that meant I barely got it done. The site editor refused to load after I finished creating the page and the links for it, and thus I wasn't able to add to the Update log on the homepage. Oh well...

And I nipped in to Larry's Comics for my semi every-other-weekly visit: I knew that the next issue of "Neverwhere" was coming out *sometime* at the end of the month, I just couldn't remember exactly when. It hadn't come out yet, but I managed to get the September issue of "Hellblazer", and for the heck of it, I got the first volume of "The Sandman", which I don't have and which is *always* out at the Lowell library.

While I was there, I got chit-chatting with a fellow who's a struggling comics artist, who used to work as a manager in a grocery store, so we got talking about comics and grocery store horror stories, like his adventures with a haunted register where customers would trip for no reason, or the day a disgruntled ex-employee hacked into their computer system using "a Pringles can and a laptop" (How the hell does someone pull that off??). I came within inches of asking him if he'd be interested in helping me out with the "Constantine"/"Hellblazer" comic-idea I'm tinkering with, but as I overheard him say, he's got enough next-to-nothing jobs on his hands right now.

I almost bought a volume of "Promethea", based on a reccommendation "seven" gave over on [livejournal.com profile] for_zion, even if *is* by Alan Moore, and some of you may remember my rant about his attitude problem. It's been described, in "seven"'s words as "a primer on soulbonding". Only trouble was, it was book 4 and I felt wierd about starting in the middle.

Also got the next volume of the "Fullmetal Alchemist" manga, and as luck would have it, I'm now developing a crush on Lust...

Watched the DVD of "Vanity Fair": Reese Witherspoon is starting to grow on me as an actress, and I loved the costuming in this movie (and the bit with Regency-era ladies trying to be Indian nautch dancers made me smile; hey, it was directed by a Bollywood director, it's entitled to have an Indian dance number in it).

What comes of watching a 19th century costume drama with a soulbond looking over your shoulder )
matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Default)
I woke up this morning with my sinuses packed solid, this when I had to get ready to leave for an appointment with the nurse practitioner about getting the neuro-psyche testing done. I think the heat must have come on in the night and blown some dust into the air, which is why my sinuses got so inflamed. Thus, I didn't have much to say to her when I finally got there, and she kept stating the obvious and asking me if I can't get any prescription meds for it, which meant having to tell her the saga of the HMO That Won't Pay for Zyrtec. I'm beginning to think this woman is Paris Hilton's long-lost twin, since she sometimes seems to have the same intelligence level. That and I'm pissed off with her for thinking my introverted tendencies come from my being home-taught. Both my parents are introverts, so I think I may have inherited the tendency and/or learned the behavior from them. I'm a frackin' INFP on the Meyers-Briggs test; we can't all all have an E in our M-B scores... And stop ragging on the homeschooling: the point was to get me an education, and considering how much I freak out/get unnerved when people get in my face, can you imagine how shut down I'd be in a so-called normal classroom environment?! I'd go from Asperger's Syndrome to classic autism, and to be perfectly honest, I'm so fed up with people getting on my case, trying to make me over in their idea of normal, I'm of a mind to just pull into my headspace and stay there.

To quote a tee-shirt I'm trying to get: "I'm in my own little world most of the time, but that's okay: They all know me here."

Well, she's put in the request for the testing, but that's not likely to go through for another six months, so I've got some time to brace myself for it.

The rest of the trip went fairly well: I nipped over to the Burlington Mall to do a little window shopping. I'm looking for a jacket for my Constantine costume; I thought I found it in Macy's, but the cut wasn't quite loose enough, and it was way out of my price range.

And I was looking for a red shirt in case I ever do costume as the Merv. I found one in Filenes that was aaaalmost just right: it was close enough to catch his attention and bring him to the surface of my consciousness, but of course he turned up his hawkish nose at the fact that it wasn't silk and it cost less than a hundred dollars U.S.

I guess odd colored dress shirts are the style this year: I saw a pink shirt with white pin-stripes, with a bright green tie. Then there was the guy wearing the ORANGE shirt with the purple and grey striped tie.... I mean it was *ORANGE*, not burnt orange, not pale orange, it was ORANGE, like the fruit, or a road construction sign. I finally laughed and said out loud, "What are these colors? Angry fruit salad?" Which elicited an empathetic chuckle from the guy next to me, looking through the bins of dress shirts...

And I looked over at the guy to find I was looking at a near-clone of Flood. I wish I were making this up. I've seen this guy before, and I think he's one of the big-wigs for the store I work for, since I saw him there once when a bunch of the company big-wigs were there for an inspection. Wieerd...

Once I got back downtown, I took care of some computer stuff (ie, printing out emails sent to my mother from her crazy penfriend who sends me the same glurge over and over and over again... I found the same email in my inbox *twice*) at the library -- and had to fight off this insane, probably drug-addicted woman who tried to steal the computer I was using, when I got up to collect my printouts. While I was there, I got out a couple graphic novels, including Neil Gaiman's "The Books of Magic" (only the fourth time I've read it, but man, I love it. ::Pats Neil Gaiman's slightly kinder, gentler version of John Constantine:: ) and a fascinating little travelogue by Craig Thompson, whom I *think* did some of the artwork for one of the "Matrix" Comics.

Also went to the Tewksbury Library: I renewed "The Faery Ring" and "Johnathon Strange and Mr. Norrell", neither of which I finished, though I've made some progress with the latter. I also got out the Fodor's travel guide to Los Angeles, since it's got some maps in it which I need to help me out with my "Constantine" fics.

I was so busy, I didn't have a chance to write anything for the [livejournal.com profile] 31_days challenge, but perhaps I'll do better tomorrow; I might even cheat and back-date the entry. The rules say you have to post the entry on the day of the theme it fits, but it doesn't say anything about back-dating the entry...
matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Hellblazer)
Deja-vu for last year... I'm pretty sure it was the last Saturday in July when out of the blue, I got a call from work that I didn't have to come in since they'd overscheduled or something. Well, it happened again today.

I used my time wisely: did a little housework. Watched "All Creatures Great and Small" on one of the local PBS stations (one of the stars of that series, Peter Davison, was the first actor I ever fangurled, this when I was the tender age of twelve). Started typing the next (very short) chapter of "The Smoke of Satan..." which I hope to finish typing/post tomorrow. And I drafted the whole first chapter of "The Changing of the Guard". Not to let out very many spoilers, but you'll see more of Chas in this fic, plus Mefistofel makes a brief appearance, as do Constantine's older sister Sharon and her daughter Helena, known as "Lenni". I'm riffing like -- heh! -- hell from the canon background details Jamie Delano created for "Hellblazer", but there's marked differences: Movie-verse!Constantine's family is a little better off and rather less dysfunctional (hey, the poor kid could see demons from the time he was really young: I didn't want to be *that* mean to him), but I kept most of the structural parameters. This should make it funny if I ever write the fic I've been threatening to, where the two versions of John Constantine collide...

Cut for 'Hellblazer'-related rantage )
matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Detective_Ash)
My eye-catching entry subject/title comes from Larry, of Larry's Comics, when I showed up this morning looking for the next issue of the comic book version of "Neverwhere", which has started to grow on me, despite the fact that it's completely different from how I visualized it. He was also intrigued that I got the next issue of "Hellblazer", but I admitted that I got interested in the series after seeing "Constantine". I guess I'm the resident DC/Vertigo geek; someone's gotta balance out the Marvel boys/gals and be the wierd dark one.

On Puck's reccommendation, I got the first volume of the manga version of "Fullmetal Alchemist", and I *almost* got a manga adaptation of Tim Burton's "The Nightmare before Christmas", but the artwork was nowhere as good as the original art design.

Bad news: The computer lab at Middlesex Community College is closing next week, which means no more free printouts until September. Ah well, I'll manage.

Wierd news: As of next week, the bus schedule is changing -- they're adding more buses on the Tewksbury route. The outbound (going *to* Tewksbury) will be leaving at the top of every hour, which means there's gonna be a two pm. bus, so if I miss the one-o'clock bus, I won't be stuck downtown for two hours.

Iconage )

And then I discovered I was running out of Alavert, the stuff I take for my dreadful nasal allergies, which meant going to WalMart this evening, while my folks were grocery shopping. I went poking around in the DVD section, the way I always do, and discovered they had a two-disk special edition of "Constantine" (complete with a mini-book of "Hellblazer" issue # 41) which I wasn't even aware of. *Headdesk*. Ah well, I'll keep the single disk version because I like the artwork on the case.
matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (The_Sandman)
And thus am feeling *much* better, now that I got three weeks' worth of emotional crud off my shoulders. Only catch is, I won't be seeing my therapist again for another four weeks, since she's on vacation, and then there's schedule conflicts the third week. I can manage in the meantime.

I know I've said I should stay away from Larry's Comics, but I nipped in to see if they had "Dead Boy Detectives", Jill Thompson's new manga-style "Sandman: Seasons of Mists" spin-off, which came out yesterday. Lo and behold, I walked in and practically put my hand on it. So, I got that and the August issue of "Hellblazer" (One extreme to the other: from kawaii to hellishly dark). They still had the Chibi!Death plushie, which was begging me with her big blue eyes to take her home... so I shook down my wallet and found the money for her. I'm letting my mother "confiscate" her for a few days, till Monday after the dental work, as a little incentive to .. I guess "keep my mouth shut" doesn't apply when you're trying to silence your whining over some dental work. That and the DVD of "Constantine" coming out Tuesday are my incentives/rewards for *not* grumbling. (I must sound like I'm disciplining/rewarding a child, but hey, I consider myself to be only a semi-adult, so I sometimes have to use parenting tactics when I'm dealing with myself.)

Some books had to be dropped off at the Tewksbury Library, so I hung around there a little while on the way home. They were giving away some used books, or "Beach Books" as they call them, thus I picked up a few: Brian Aldiss's "Helliconia Spring" (I like his short-story style, so I'm curious to see how he writes novels), Piers Anthony's "Killobyte" (a clever-looking novel dealing with VR games and diabetes... I've heard talk that Piers Anthony has a touch of Asperger's Syndrome, which makes me all the more curious to read his work), and the strategy guide/walk-through of a 1993 computer game, "King's Quest", which reads more like a novel than a strategy guide: makes me wanna find the software for the game, since I'm curious about computer games lately.
matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Merv_Crest)
Word of advice: Never buy Fujifilm brand CD-Rs. The tracks don't burn in right, thus the disk won't play continously: You have to hit the 'next' button on your CD player to get it to go to the next track. I found this out the hard way with the disk I made yesterday. Grrr. Thus, I had to re-do the entire disk (I'd somehow also missed one track of it, and put two of another track on instead. Merde.) Got that straighened out, thank goodness...

I also managed to get to Larry's Comics: I had a heck of a time trying to find "Neverwhere, Part One", but thankfully, Larry himself was there and helped me out... and since I told him I'm a *huge* fan of Neil Gaiman, he reccomended "Black Orchid" to me: I bought the first issue of it, once he tracked it down, and he kinda loaned me the other two. Wow! I like this guy. What comes of going to a mom-and-pop comic book shop...

And I finally made a lovely new icon I've been meaning to make, this of the Merv's crest, as seen on the mural in the Chateau great hall.

Despite the intermittent rain, I managed to struggle through the downpour to Larry's Comics. Luckily, something went right today:

The Endless figurines, from the "Sandman" series were still there, but they aren't there any more, since I bought them. So cute... *admires Dream... pats Desire on the head... throws paper wad at Despair... *

I'll post a pic of the figurines sometime...

Nipped into Lowell today to take care of library business/bank stuff/computer stuff. Part of the computer stuff involved ordering my dad's birthday present, namely: the Ford book I wanted to get him for Christmas, which got lost in the mail, and which Amazon refunded me the money for.

Plus, I also stopped at Wal-Mart and exchanged the "Sky Captain..." DVD which I mistakenly got the *fullscreen* version of when I wanted to get the *widescreen* version. Why, oh *WHY* did they do a cropped-picture version of that movie is far beyond me: you'd only get half the movie!

And I bought the software for the MxO ::loves the box artwork:: Now I just need to get a better computer; this one is getting very shaky. There's an outside chance that my dad might give me half the money for a better computer for my birthday, but I have to run the whole story past him. He's talked about wanting to sell auto parts and things on eBay, but I told him I was having trouble with my comp, so that kinda got put on the shelf.

Whoo... A long trip but a satisfying one...

I got to Lowell bright and early at 8.00, and even made it to Mass at St. Joseph's (no better way to start the day!). Next, I nipped into the CyberCafe and printed out some stuff for my mother. I managed to nip back to the bus stop with a whole ten minutes to spare before the Lahey Clinic/Burlington Mall bus showed up. When I got off at the Burlington Mall stop, my intention was to nip through the office park next door to get to the Burlington Mall Road and walk along it to the back driveway of Lahey Clinic. Good thing I had some extra time, since the bus arrived at 10.00 and my appointment was at 10.30: I got myself twisted around and had to ask someone to point me in the right direction.

I'm one step closer to getting the neuro-psyche testing (re)done: they now have a specialist for that at Lahey Clinic, so the nurse practitioner is supposed to set up an appointment for that, plus she's trying to find a support group for high-functioning people with Asperger's Syndrome. I go back there later in June... My mind is made up to do this, but my mindset is still "Erggh, do I want to go through *THAT* again?"

So, I rewarded myself for being a trooper about having the testing (re)done, by poking around the Burlington Mall for the twenty minutes or so I had laid over before the noon bus back downtown came. I poked around the Waldenbooks there, also an EB Games, where I got the strategy guide for the Matrix Online, just to see what tidbits of information I can mine out of it to be recycled in DegSep ((More about that in another post)).

And I made my once-a-month trip to Larry's Comics, in Lowell: Got the graphic novel version of "Death: The Time of Your Life" and the three issues of "Death: The High Cost of Living", as well as two recent issues of "Hellblazer". ((By the way, Happy Birthday, John Constantine, either version.)) And I now know what I'm getting myself for my birthday, besides getting this computer fixed:

They got the 7-piece set of "Sandman" figurines! I saw that on top of one of the racks of boxes of comics, and I nearly started drooling... $40.00, but it's worth it! ::Plans to toss paper wads at the figure of Despair when she's poking me with her hook::

I also bought the movie novelization of (Don't throw things at me) "Catwoman"; I'm tempted to get the comic-book tie-in, but the artwork is atrocious (Besides the obvious, they screwed up the Lambert Wilson character's nose.).

After a tiring day at work, I went with my folks up to the Rockingham Mall. I needed a little shopping therapy: I got Jill Thompson's "Little Endless Storybook", which I'd been going slightly nuts trying to find. ::Huggles it:: I'm thinking of loaning it to my mom, once I read it, to introduce her to the "Sandman" series; she liked the cover artwork! ::Huggles Chibi!Endless, kisses Chibi!Dream. I think I'll call him Dreamykins...::

I also made the huge mistake of going into the Hot Topic up there. Ow. Nasty. That's no way to be Gothic, kiddies!
