It's the end of an era...

...and the beginning of another.
The computer arrived by FedEx while I was at work, thus my mom took care of signing for it, getting the boxes inside -- the smaller one, presumably the monitor, is currently in my room, on my bed; the other, probably the tower, keyboard and speakers was left in the hallway, until I got home and my mom helped me move it to the living room.
I'm so excited, my hands ar quivering and I can almost barely type.
Next up is getting a Flash drive so I can (hopefully) move the files from this box to the new comp: I just have to go through and cull out a lot of useless stuff, then figure out how much memory I need. I've already tossed a lot of pictures that I *KNOW* I have on Photobucket (as long as their ISP doesn't get pissy and cut off their service again), and I've been copying a lot of RP chat logs onto LJ communities I created for just this purpose. I just have to figure out what else I can toss.
If the Flash drive trick doesn't work somehow, I'll take the comp to a tech and see if I can't get the contents of My Documents transferred. I've learned from experience that
Then... setting up the new box and loading software, which includes:
--Norton Internet Security.
--AIM or Trillian, which
eastpath highly, highly reccomended.
--The Juno software.
--"The Catholic Library", a lovely little set of four disks containing tons of official documents and classics of Catholic literature.
--The MxO. 'Nuff said.
I hope to get this done over the weekend. We'll see what pans out. I'll let you all know when I'm going offline by posting here before I go any further.
