Weird Hours and a Weird Christmas tree

matrixrefugeeMy work schedule for next week:
Thursday: 12 to 4 pm. (Yes, you read that right. I don't work again till Thursday.)
Friday: 9 am to 3 pm.
Saturday: Ditto.
Which means the Frenchman has me up for two six hour shifts in two days. I probably won't be up for chat/MxO'ing any of these nights, and I probably won't be doing so until Monday, Dec. 26 (Yes, Flood, I know that's Boxing Day.). Tomorrow through Wednesday, I'll be getting ready for Christmas. I have a rough schedule knocked together for that:
Monday: Odds and ends shopping/wrap presents
Tuesday: Decorate house
Wednesday: Work on Christmas/holiday fanfic (Yes, it's an MxO-ish one; no, Sieges isn't in it, since this is taking place looong before she was decanted/plugged in/unplugged. Yes, that means a younger, slightly less cynical Flood is in it. I'm basing it off some Christmas memories he shared with me, recently.) Also work on Christmas/December holiday card for this LJ.
I'm not sure when I'll be decorating the tree, since my dad hasn't brought it in yet, as he had to work tonight. Usually, we bring it in the night before the Fourth Sunday of Advent, let it warm up and unfold itself overnight, then put the lights on Sunday night, and I put the ornaments on during the days leading up to Christmas. This year, I'm not sure... And he got this wierd-looking yellowish fir with these two-inch long needles that I'll have a heck of a time trying to hang the ornaments on, since quite a few of said ornaments have loops of string for hangers instead of wire hooks. Those are going to be a blast to try and fit over those blasted long needles.
I don't know why the fanbrats got it into their heads that the Merv hates Christmas. He's very fond of it, actually: lots of parties, lots of good food and drink, lots of oppurtunities for flirtations (and beyond that...). Only problem is, he's (HEH!) hel to buy for. Ref couldn't have said it better: "What in heaven, hell, limbo or purgatory do you buy for a guy who owns half the industry in the Matrix?!"
Flood, on the other hand, is a bit reticent about Christmas. He's got a few bad memories associated with it (nothing major), and it's a stressful time for him ("It's called orchestrating the big, sprawling, insane production number known as the Christmas festivities."). Thus, I've been overhearing his post-Christmas vacation plans the past few days.
And all Sieges wants for Christmas is for the both of us to get her MxO-side self levelled up to 14. Says the little girl with the big gun: "I didn't used to be superstitious, but I'm wondering if this level really is bad luck..." She just had a rough night getting constantly clobbered by "those frocking Furies in Kedemoth: they're harder to kill than the ones in Zia!" She actually managed to put some daylight through some of them, so that and running a little "hardline tag" (as she calls tracking down hardlines she hasn't sychronized) have gotten her some much needed XP. She's got maybe... 900,000 to go to get to lvl 14.
