Giving up on GAFF
Dec. 19th, 2005 06:53 pmIt seems like every time I open my mouth on there, I end up inserting my foot, or I get completely ignored, or the only response to my posts comes from Tilly, the jerk from the bottom-most pit of Sheol, who decides to reply to me with pot-shots (has any one ever told that -- and I don't use this word lightly -- bitch that a better name for her is Bully, because maybe that's what she is?!), so I'm doing the right thing:
I'm pulling the plug on GAFF, and I'm of a mind to ask the Site Guru to delete my membership on there. I've had it up to here with the conservative-bashing and Christian-bashing and slamming of otherwise good Christian websites on there (Jack Chick doesn't count, but when you see a Christian psychologist whose writings you respect get hauled through the mud, and you're not very good at defending yourself, let alone someone you respect, it kinda makes you feel helpless). And I know there's some people on here who don't think much of George W. Bush, but I still respect the guy, even though I don't agree with him on a few things; note to certain GAFFers: stop treating the people who do respect him as if they were all illiterate rednecks from the deep south.
One good thing about unplugging from GAFF: It frees up time for me to write my own fanfics.

Date: 2005-12-20 11:34 pm (UTC)I stopped going ages ago (mainly because most of the fics on there are from anime, which isn't even close to my fandom), but almost stopped much earlier when someone told me that I had to listen to a poster call me stupid because the poster was an established member and I wasn't. People that petty and with that kind of group mentality aren't worth dealing with. It's a site to let out some steam and have a laugh, not to form a teenage clique.

(BTW, did you get the pics I sent you? I'm worried they didn't come through)

Date: 2005-12-21 05:30 am (UTC)The established member wouldn't happen to have been Heywood, would it? I can't stand that pretentious, biased cretin, and I can't stand the way so many people on there bow and scrape to him, like he was the site maintainer or something, just because he's been on the board since forever. Seniority doesn't make you omnipotent.
