After-Christmas shopping

matrixrefugeeI was told at work this morning it was going to be a dead day. Then it started raining like mad and everyone came crowding in to do their shopping. Seems they weren't all returning stuff or taking advantage of the after-Christmas sales.
We nipped up to the Wal-Mart in Methuen: my dad is buying up marked-down bows to use on Christmas baskets next year/stickers for my mom to use on her Christmas cards/more lights. I needed to buy more Airborne, and while I was poking around the miniscule book section, I discovered a bargain copy of the Tao Te Ching, not the translation that I wanted, but it'll suffice. I also got the third Harry Potter book, which I realised I didn't have.
Christmas gifts of the day: a paint-by-number of a Thomas Kinkade painting (Okay, they're cheezy paintings, but I like them) from my mom. A cannister of Godiva cocoa mix from my dad. Heavenly...
And oh, the Valentine's Day stuff is out in the stores already (greeting cards, anyway). I don't know why the sight of the dumb stuff didn't bother me. Maybe I'm finally getting over the whole mess in my head over not finding anyone...
Or maybe I've got so many headspace dwellers, the whinging had to go. Whatever works, and whatever keeps me sane.
