matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Dean Winchester)

For some wierd reason, the local WB station was broadcasting "Beauty and the Geek 2" every night in the 9 pm. slot, thus knocking out "Supernatural". Grrr...

So, for a chuckle, I decided to see if they were broadcasting a new episode tonight. I wasn't positive since for some wierd reason we didn't get a TV listing in today's Sundary newspaper.

I was not disappointed in the least.

I liked the spook of the week: kinda like a dark page from Neil Gaiman's "American Gods". And having the brothers split up, even briefly, was an interesting move. I was almost afraid this might be a semi-permanent split-up.

Interesting move with the people complying with the SotW getting shafted by the SotW... cosmic justice, if you will... I loved the crane shot with them talking together under a cluster of black umbrellas, like a bunch of mourners at a funeral.

And Meg the mystery girl seems to be the new recurring character that had been rumored to be joining the cast. Oh my... she looks like she might be the Balthasar to Sam's Movie-verse!Constantine, or the Nergal to Dean's Comic-verse!Constantine -- I know, it's probably utter blasphemy for me as a Vertigeek (and I'm going to incur the indignation of a certain snarky demon-hunter who rents a room in my headspace) to compare the Winchester Brothers to the two versions of the Hellblazer, but I can't help seeing the similarity.

Hmmm maybe;

Dean = Constantine
Sam = Chaz

?? I dunno.

I think Meg is actually pretty cool. Not annoying or any mary-sue character. Glad that their villian is a female too. Hee! Actually, the girl that was going to be sacraficed (totally forgot her name) wasn't annoying either. Thank the gods!

Heh! Probably a better paralell comparison.

Yeah, I thought Emily (I think that's what her name was) would get the sharp end of the stick, or that she'd decide to let herself be sacrificed, which I think would have worked a little better, but that's just my crazy opinion.

And yeah, I switched on the Mary Sue-o-Meter when Meg showed up, but she didn't really set it off. But there again, some online incidents have made my Mary Sue-o-Meter rather sensitive.
