matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Default)

I've been meaning to make a post like this for a while, just to give you all an overview of what goes on under my lid.

We'll start with the frequent ones, the ones who surface the most, lately. In no particular order:

1. The Merovingian, aka "Armand Merovee", aka "the Merv"-- If you've seen "The Matrix: Reloaded" and "Revolutions", you've encountered this fellow. He's a highly dangerous program who masterminds the underworld of Exiled programs, and it's clear he wants nothing more than to get sole control of the Matrix. He hides from the System in plain sight as an expatriate French billionaire. At times, he presents a benificent facade, but don't let it fool you: it just means he wants something from you...

2. Ref, aka "Miss Berlin Maguire", aka "the Archivist" -- An original female character I created, who's appeared in several "Matrix" fanfics of mine. She works as a collector for the Zion Archives, gathering files containing historical documents and art treasures from inside the Matrix, and on occassion, gathering physical items from the small bands of surface-dwellers hiding in the ruins of the Real. She's currently involved with the Merv... involved enough that she recently gave birth to his son, Blaise.

3. Flood, aka "Alban Flood", aka "the Floodwatchman" -- This guy comes from the Matrix Online RPG, but even though I'm not part of the game, he managed to enter my headspace anyway. He works as the Merv's chief of staff: he's elegant, well-dressed, and as snarky as they come. But you have to have a snarky sense of humor when you work for someone as demanding as the Merv.

4. John Constantine, aka "Constantine" -- The dark-haired, soulful demon-hunter of the movie-universe, not the snarky supernatural con-artist of the comic books (God help me if I ever had *both* in my headspace). He's been one of the most helpful of my bonds: He's saved me from some suicidal thoughts I've had plaguing me recently, though he's certainly not the hold-your-hand-and-comfort-you sort.

The following tend to be rather intermittant, ie. they aren't there all the time,

5. Cecie Martin -- From several of my "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" fanfictions, also a character I play in a fan-created RPG online: She's a spirited writer, in love with Gigolo Joe, a green-eyed lover-bot, and a fighter for equal rights for things like her beloved. She can be a bit bossy and opinionated, but she means well.

6. Frank Sweitz -- From several of my "A.I." fanfictions, and the "A.I." RPG: the 1930s Hollywood archetypal "heroic reporter", who even dresses the part and uses a manual typewriter, which he pounds away on with a cigarette dangling from his mouth... but he lives in 2138, and he hangs his fedora hat in Rouge City. A nice guy to have around, since he's polite and kind and always ready to lend a helping hand.

7. Halloran "Hal" McGeever -- Frank's not-so-reliable photographer sidekick, who specializes in the crime pages of a Rouge City tabloid, besides computer/robot/virtual reality hacking. There's a kind of mystery going on about his origins: there's a rumor circulating that he may be the last of the historical Merovingian dynasty, but he'd be the first to say it hasn't been backed up with any solid evidence.

8. Emily Anderson -- Originally created for a "Matrix [first movie]"/"Without a Trace" crossover that I never started, she's Thomas "Neo" Anderson's kid sister. Wait, don't run away: she's no Mary Sue. She hasn't any AWESOME POWAHZ!!!!!1111 that upstage her brother, and she's not "TEH REEL WUN!!!!!11111" either. She's just an ordinary girl whose big brother just happens to be "the One": she's a sweet, slightly shy girl-next-door type who just wants to know what is going on with her big brother, whom she cares about. She's good friends with Ref and is helping her and Ref's dad, Niall, look after Blaise when Ref is ...busy.

9. Enzo the Hyena -- An anthropomorphic hyena. The anNOYing comic relief, as it were. Likes bouncing around, chewing things, eating things, playing pranks on people and just being a general wierd nuisance.

There's a few more whom I'll introduce eventually...

EDITED FEBRUARY 7, 2006 -- Enzo appears to have left the Houseparty. Some of the guests miss him terribly, others are glad he's gone.

EDITED MARCH 2, 2006 -- And Sieges, my little character from the MxO -- or at least her essence -- has shown up in the Houseparty: she never fronts, but I feel her fear and pain and excitement as she moves around in her world, or as she rests in my brain.

Since then, my headspace has increasingly become more like Exile Central. At Christmas, the Houseparty hosted several Exile visitors, and also, Sieges, my MxO character (or something of her essence) has shown up. She seems to like using my headspace as a place to clean her guns and rest between missions.

Funny, I thought the anthromorphic hyena was Hal. Two Constantines in your head would definatly be..interesting and since you read Hellblazer it's a distict possibility.

The difference between Enzo and Hal is that Enzo's the one with the fur on the *outside*, and he's really much more innocent than Hal.

I might be setting myself up to have the two Constantines in my headspace: the Hellblazer made a short cameo appearance in the latest chapter of "The Smoke of Satan..." and I just drafted a bit in "The Changing of the Guard" where he shows up again, in a crowd scene. And I've been gleefully plagued with the idea to write a fic where the two Constantines find out -- much to their annoyance -- that they're each other's third or fourth cousin of some sort. Of course they probably won't be able to *stand* each other: they're too much alike! (The symbolic image of two buzzing chainsaws colliding comes to mind...)

The comment about Hal was intended as a joke (well, mostly). And yes, sticking the two Constantine's in the same room for a while could get messy (not to mention confusing).

Oops, my bad! (re: the joke) I think I was having a very mild "Aspie moment" at the time.

And I've come to the realization that the "two Constantines in one fic" would work better as a fan-comic (The visuals would help keep the reader from getting tangled up, and I'm enjoying the mental images of the two contrasting fellows: the dark one and the light one... Hm, something symbolic there?), only I'm a terrible artist, and I don't know anyone who'd have the time or interest in collaborating on it with me, though I'd be delighted to write the script for it.

Don't worry, a lot of people don't get my jokes but then my sense of humor is a bit unusual and possibly old-fashioned since I get the jokes in Shakespere and Chaucer. And yes, the double dose of Constantine would be better as a comic. Unfortuatly my drawing skills are about as good as Destruction's which is frustrating since a lot of my ideas (e.g. The Rabble) would be better as comics.
