Lowell appointment and a job application

The mini Barnes & Noble downtown has had a help wanted sign on the door the past couple of weeks, so I went in and filled out an application. I'm hoping I get this job, since it would be a change of pace for me, and it's something I'd be better with anyway.

crowdog66, I finally downloaded and burned a copy of the DegSep soundtrack: excellent stuff!

And the wretched update is still going through... I hope it finishes patching itself tonight, since this is starting to remind me of when the first patch went through when I first signed up...

Heh. Well, which one of my current choices depends wholeheartedly on HOW your DegSep, er, me[*laughs*] is currently interacting with Himself. If I know that, I could tell you. [I just sent off a dual-CD comp to matrixrefugee, actually...]

In DegSep, Neo's first encounter with the Merovingian was when he and Smith paid off a bet (to sing "Mamma Mia" in drag) at one of tM's clubs, "La Fontaine D'Or". Himself saw Neo, decided that if he looked fetching in a full-length ballgown he'd look even more fetching with nothing on at all, and sent him a coded beer "on the house". Then, when Neo excused himself and managed to stumble outside the club to try to cool off, he cornered the One and stole a (very willing) kiss from him -- a lustful interlude interrupted by Smith, who, with a haladie blade to tM's throat, convinced the elder Exile that he would NOT tolerate interference with his "property".

That was the last Neo saw of tM until the Alliance was formed, at which point he was forced into association with the elder program simply by virtue of being an important figure in the Alliance himself, as well as having a position on the Leaders Council. The second he saw tM again, Neo felt a resurgence of the feelings he'd experienced while coded. Whether this was a lingering long-term effect of the infection or not made little difference: he was still attracted, a condition that Smith (barely) tolerated.

Then, during the first battle of the Matrix Wars, Smith was infected with a virus that threatened to destroy him, and Neo, in a truly brilliant move, copied-and-pasted Smith's code into his own brain, saving the ex-Agent. Unfortunately they had to time-share Neo's RSI in twelve hour shifts, which meant that although they were separated by no more than the space of a single breath, they were still isolated from each other... a condition of terrible deprivation after months of increasing telepathic atunement. Neo's suffering did not escape the notice of tM, who decided that he could take advantage of it to finally get what he wanted: the One, under him.

They were only together about a week, since once Smith was restored as a separate entity Neo was focussed on him once more, but still -- it was an incandescent affair, or at least I thought so.

Oh, one more thing, which I don't think is in those logs... when Neo and Smith first arrived at the Chateau, Smith (who'd had the foresight to have new haladie blades forged of iron) cut tM's face as punishment for daring to transgress with Neo all those months ago. The Merovingian took his revenge after Neo and Smith were separated by invoking a debt from Smith by saving Neo's life, then taking payment by having Smith drink coded wine, at which point tM punished him in the most subtle and injurious way possible: not by causing him pain, but by causing him pleasure. Smith, outraged at being forced to feel need, walked out of the Chateau subdimension in a state of cold and absolute fury -- and Neo, realizing what had happened, stormed into tM's office and very nearly killed the elder program; tM turned him aside by reminding him that if tM ceased to exist, so would the Chateau subdimension and all the Alliance personnel currently residing there (not to mention the fact that it would break the backbone of the Alliance). Neo left, found Smith, and managed to talk him down from his murderous isolation, but never forgot what tM had done, and for years could not think of tM without rage of his own.
