My Dad's New Job

You might remember some entries on my diaryland.com diary where I talked about the dead-end job my dad was stuck in, working for a farm that was slooooowly going under because of terrible management practises. Well....
He got a new job this weekend.
And the boss is the president of the Massachusetts Flower Growers' Association. Plus, he'd had job offers from the guy who's the vice-president of the MFGA and a few other top people in the same association. This is how good a plant grower my dad is, and finally he's going to work for a place that will really value him. Granted, it's several towns over from here and his commute will be a little longer, but the roads are quicker. Plus, he'll be getting out of work earlier and the pay is better: his starting pay will be more than he's making now. In fact, when "Cheryl", the boss-lady of the new garden center that just hired my dad, asked him how much he was making now, she thought that was ridiculous. Plus, the health benefits are better: we're not locked in by an HMO any more, but I may have to be re-registered as a dependant disabled child. No big deal: we've figured it out before, we can figure it out again.
So now he's comically fake-complaining: [Silly scarcastic] "Oh man, y' mean I gotta drive out to *Concord*, along all those country roads, past all that farmland? And with all those dumb trees that hang out over the road? Oh, that's gonna be horrible in the fall with those ugly bright colored leaves! And all those historical sites? And there's that ugly old Sleepy Hollow Cemetary with all those boring old Concord writers buried there, and that nasty woman who wrote those kid books [Louisa May Alcott, who's one of my heroes]. You gotta be kiddin' me!" [/Silly sacrastic]
