matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Merovingian)
Yikes! You know, when your hot water heater dies on a Friday and it takes till Saturday night to get it replaced, you wind up with a ton of laundry to do the following Monday morning! Man, that bugger was chuggin' all afternoon, from before I went to work, till after I came home.

I had a short shift today, 3 to 6, but it felt like a long one at times.... and the last hour just flew because it was one order after another... Swordfish steaks are on sale this week, and as several packages of swordfish came down the conveyor belt, I suddenly remembered that the fishermen on the Andrea Gail, the boat that figures prominently in ""The Puh'fec' Stoh'm", were fishing for swordfish... so I said a little prayer for the souls of the crew of the Andrea Gail... That was a real boat, mind you. I remember hearing about it back during the "No-Name Hurricane of 1991", the "Perfect Storm" of the title....

And I'm plugging away at "A Little Child Shall Lead Him", the post-Revolutions "Matrix" fic I've been tinkering with. I almost have the first half/ first third finished, I just gotta plot out what happens leading up to the turning-point scene in the middle.

I found this site via a news update about a new "'Matrix' and Philosophy" on MatrixFans.Net . If you're looking for a really good, detailed site that lists most of the mythological references and archetypes in the "Matrix" series and explains the roles of each of the major characters, take a look at this:

The Matrix Mythology and Characters Homepage

There's a Flash animation at the top of the page that takes a long time to load if you're on dial-up, but the content on the page is *EXCELLENT*!

matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Passion)
I didn't have an appointment today, but I had to go into Lowell anyway to take care of some business at the library, renewing the book my mom and I have been reading together for the past... three months (with my work schedule et al, it sometimes takes a while for us to finish whatever it is we're reading), "The Small House at Allington", one of Anthony Trollope's "Barsetshire Chronicles" (translation: slightly stilted nineteenth century semi-romance novel).

But I managed to get my hands on the first volume of "The Sandman Library", the bound version of Neil Gaiman's comic book series. Wow. Wonderful dark urban fantasy with elements of horror... I hope I can get my hands on the next volume soon... I think the Lowell Library has them all, but it's hit or miss -- and miss, and miss, and miss -- trying to get graphic novels at this library. All the good ones always seem to be out...

I got most of my work online done, I just have to finish creating a loopy bit of "Matrix" fan art and post it on the "matrix_fans" community here on LiveJournal. They've been doing a "Themed Pic of the Day/Week" feature, and I've posted some nice stuff for "The Animatrix" (last week's theme) already... But I have one wacky idea up my sleeve... I may get a chance to finish/post it tomorrow, since my mom is going into Lowell tomorrow, and I've decided to go with her. Trouble is, that may make the day long, since I'm working tomorrow night... but I'll let myself have a snooze in the afternoon before work.

Poking away at "A Little Child Shall Lead Him", and I'm tinkering with plot ideas for "Red King Awakened". I got the idea for this new fic, a sequel to "Under the Gun" even before I was halfway finished with "Gun", based on this snippet from "Through the Looking Glass":

`He's [the Red King] dreaming now,' said Tweedledee: `and what do you think he's dreaming about?'

Alice said `Nobody can guess that.'

`Why, about you!' Tweedledee exclaimed, clapping his hands triumphantly. `And if he left off dreaming about you, where do you suppose you'd be?'

`Where I am now, of course,' said Alice.

`Not you!' Tweedledee retorted contemptuously. `You'd be nowhere. Why, you're only a sort of thing in his dream!'

`If that there King was to wake,' added Tweedledum, `you'd go out -- bang! -- just like a candle!'

`I shouldn't!' Alice exclaimed indignantly. `Besides, if I'M only a sort of thing in his dream, what are you, I should like to know?'

Now, in "Gun", the Merovingian is referred to as the Red King at one point, and in this story-line, I'm having it happen that the Merv was some sort of master-program for the system, only he got too strong for the Architect to keep in line... so the server that housed our boy was shut down, and he's been trying to find a way to enter the Source ever since... But if he does, and his old strength is awakened... the machine world and the human world as well is doomed and the cycle of the war may restart....

But, on to more lucrative ideas: I came up with yet another odd sci-fi story:
