Sunday Morning Pumpkin Picking
Oct. 3rd, 2004 11:43 pmI had an unusual morning today: Before Mass, my dad and I nipped over to the tiny farmstand his buddy "Mack" in Woburn runs, near a small patch of pumpkins on some land he owns, where we helped him pick a few pumpkins to sell... and Mack let us keep one for helping him out. It's been years since I picked pumpkins with my dad, so this was a real treat.
Stopped at a couple of yard sales this afternoon: bought a copy of " 'Salem's Lot" by Stephen King and a CD of some Broadway tunes sung by a young Jerry Orbach ((Miss you, Lennie Briscoe! Your replacement on L&O ain't got no pizzazz.)); at the other, I picked up Art Speigelman's "MAUS", the graphic novel in two parts which he wrote based on his father's experience surviving the Holocaust. The book has a decidedly unusual approach: the Jewish people are mice, the Nazis are cats, which may seem trite when you describe it, but reading it is a far different thing....
I'm poking at the latest "Matrix" fic... I've almost gotten up to a mildly squick-inducing scene between the Merv and the Oracle... It won't be the worst: I'm taking the similar shadow-on-the-wall approach that I took with the non-con bit in "Under the Gun". Hopefully I should have that finished tomorrow, then hard work on the still-untitled story dealing with the "Angry Transhuman", which I still cannot find a title for...
I've got more to write, a whole week's worth... I'll update as I can...
