Right Oil, Wrong DVD!
Apr. 19th, 2005 01:06 pmI took the bus up to WalMart (Don't throw things at me: I'm on a limited income) to do a little shopping. I needed new underwear for one thing( Female TMI! ).
For another thing, I've been trying to get to the health food store a few doors down from WalMart to buy the peppermint oil I need for the henna body art kit that I've had for a year but have yet to use; apparantly, you need peppermint oil to open up your pores and make it easier for the henna to set. Now, before any Bible-thumpers among you, my readers, start spouting the quote from Leviticus, or whichever Old Testament book it is, about not making any marks on your body, this is a lot different from typical tattoos: This stuff lasts only two to four weeks. For that matter, it's a Middle Eastern artform, often done for weddings, so I don't doubt that a lot of Israelite women had it done back in Biblical times. And for that matter, there's some Christians who have made it part of their ministry to incorporate religious themes into their tattoos/bodyart; I ran across an LJ community for people who do this. I spotted a young man the other day sporting a really well-done tattoo on his forearm, of St. Michael the Archangel. Me, I'm planning something simple: a Celtic cross on my forearm. Maybe, if I feel adventurous, I'll try something more complicated, for instance, the Red King sigil (the design Keanu Reeves wore on his wrists in "Constantine").
Back to the wrong DVD: while I was at WalMart, I *finally* got the DVD of "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow", but when I got it home, I discovered I'd gotten the Fullscreen edition, not the Widescreen (why would they make a Fullscreen DVD of that movie is waaay beyond me...). So, I'll have to bring that back soon. Other than that, it was a great shopping trip.
