OMG! SHUGAH HIGH!!!!!1111111
May. 30th, 2005 09:34 pmNo, I am *not* going to start writing any random humor fics like the stoopid fankiddies out there. (I'm suddenly minded, for some reason, of William S. Burroughs's drug-induced surrealism, which has a lot more going for it in terms of technical merit than the kind of sugar-induced crap the fankiddies pound out. I don't doubt he edited the grammar, etc. on his manuscripts, in between drug-trips.) My mother has been experimenting with baking, and she tried glazing a pound cake for my dad's birthday. For some reason, even though she followed the recipe to the letter, the glaze came out wicked sugary. It's enough to make your taste buds feel as if they'd been dope-slapped with a stick of raw sugar cane!
Quiet day today: poking at fanfics, and trying to beat some shape into the long short story/short novel "Sophisticated Ladies", with a view toward publishing it via lulu.com. I think I posted that on here; just as a heads-up to anyone who might have bookmarked that page, I'm taking that one down in a week. Unfortunately, the editing process is causing me to go through the usual "this is crap" sort of thinking, which tends to haunt writers during the pre-publication editing process. Some of the Houseparty isn't being helpful (I'm looking at *you*, Flood...), though most of them are (particularly Ref, Cecie and Frank, who have been nothing short of supportive: Frank has come up with some good ways to improve the story; I'm tempted to appoint him my "internal editor". Maybe that will shut up the one or two objectors.)
