matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Default)
The AP, the Associated Press, one of the most reliable and prominent news sources in the country, has picked up our story; I just found out, via the Yahoo Group for the bunch of us trying to save my parish, that the New York Times is going to carry a story about the impending closing.

You can dodge the issue, O'Malley and "Manning", but you can't hide behind your excuses forever. To paraphrase the Merovingian, we survived the Know-Nothings torching the original wood-frame structure in the 1850s, and we will survive *you*.

Pictures of Holy Trinity, as I've promised to post... )

::Siggh...::

I made a trip all the way up to the Town Hall to see if they had any job openings listed for the library. No such luck. I'm going to try again at the Lowell Library, since they are in dire need of a good library page who knows where the frockin' books go! They keep losing stuff on me and telling me I have stuff overdue when I *KNOW* I brought the items back.

On the plus side, I am editing "Sophisticated Ladies", a vampire story I'd written a while back. I'm polishing it up and substituting one character with a fellow some of you may know already, namely, Father Martin Crowley from "The Smoke of Satan...". Thus, the objectors in my head are making more noise. ::Threatens Flood with the Hammer of Smiting Things With; Flood smirks at me, then steps away out of reach:: On the technical side, the story is pretty good, I just need to knock some sense into one of the characters and strengthen another. Hopefully, I can get this piece ready to post on Lulu.com by next week. I'll be announcing when it's ready (and taking down the entry that I posted it in), and I'll be moving the Lulu link to the tippety-top of the LJ page here. The AIFFOA has been a lot of fun, but it's time to start promoting my original stuff.

In other news, I'm considering upgrading this LJ to paid status -- it's only about $2.10 a month for a year, if you do the math. That way, I can use more of the nifty icons I have on my hard drive. I just got a funny one of Pope Benedict XVI: Some of the more playful Catholics on LJ's "catholics" community have taken the idea that our Papa Ratzi looks like Senator Palpatine in "Star Wars" and run with it. I can't tell you more; you'll have to see it. Then there's the holiday ones (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, I'm looking for an Easter one), a couple nice "Matrix" ones (non-Merv), a few "Sandman" ones (Desire and Dream), a couple "Constantine" ones, my "Passion of the Christ" icon, the "LJ Blackout" one. I'm making one of Flood (from the MxO, or as we've adopted him into DegSep). Of course, I'll be keeping the three that I have on here already (Our Lady of Guadalupe, Gigolo Joe from "A.I.", of course the Merv). Hm, that should fill up the alloted 15 icons easily! ;8^D
