matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Default)
I'm notorious for extending the festivities for as long as I reasonably can. Plus, I had to work Saturday, my actual birthday, so the day was a bit hectic. Mom baked a red velvet cake (my new favorite), but we kept having to make trips out for ingredients we turned out to be missing. The three of us went out to dinner at the local Cracker Barrel (Hey, my dad and I like the place). And there was gonna be some hijinks on the MxO, but that seems to have been post-poned till tonight, since ...a certain someone who'd been invited was unable to attend. We'll see what goes down...

Yesterday: Went to Mass at Holy Trinity Church for the first time since Easter (My dad had to work the Sundays in May, since that's the busy season for him). I spent much of the day reading and quiddling with fanfic notes and things.

Just now: a package I'd been expecting just arrived, containing a bargain-priced copy of "The Art of the Matrix" that I'd ordered off Amazon.com. It's missing the dust jacket, but it was so riduculously low-priced, I couldn't pass it up.

My favorite place to shop: the Salvation Army Thrift Shop in Wilmington. I've gotten some incredible bargains there, and today was no exception.

Brought home a stack of Gilbert & Sullivan opera records, including "Iolanthe", "The Yeoman of the Guard" and "The Pirates of Penzance": someone must have gotten rid of their collection, but they're a welcome addition to mine!

Also got a used copy of the classic computer game "Myst", which is missing the user's manual. If someone could tell me where to find a PDF file or suchlike of it, you'll be forever in my gratitude.

Didn't find many books, or at least not many that I was interested in. There was one whole shelf *full* of ridiculous Harlequin "Texas Star" romance novels. Oyyyy, no wonder someone ditched them. But I did find an interesting-looking young adult fantasy novel "The Hounds of the Morrigan" by Pat O'Shea.
