Well, that wasn't much of anything...
Aug. 15th, 2004 05:41 pmAll this week the news reports have been hyping the hurricanes that were supposed to slam us... and all we got out of Charley was an inch and a half of rain. I'm not complaining: if we'd gotten anything more than that, it would have flattened my dad's friend "Bob's" pepper crop, and they're almost ready to be picked.
Our plan was to go to the Lowell Trolley Museum, one of the crop of small museums that have sprouted up in the downtown area in the past year or so... But they were closed, aparently due to the cold rain that's been trickling down all afternoon. So, we tried going to the big indoor flea market out in Lancaster... and we got stuck in traffic, so we wound up getting there about 15 minutes before they closed. At least we got a chance to look around and get a feel for the place. My dad and I might go back next Sunday and spend more time there. There's at least one person who has a respectable number of old sci-fi paperbacks for sale, including what has to be a first American edition of C.S. Lewis's "Perelandra", only it had been retitled "Voyage to Venus" **Eyeroll** What a dumb title.
And yesterday and Friday were business as usual at the grocery store. I must have bagged for at least twenty people who wanted paper bags in plastic bags. I hate it when they ask that, since it slows down the process considerably, then I get behind, and then the customers start grumbling at me. There's an outside chance I might be able to get a part time job moving plants around at the wholesale grower where my dad starts work next week, so I am really considering working there for two or three eight-hour days each week. At least I have a plan!
And, and, and... The "A.I." RP PHUN of the Phuture chat's tonight! Get ready for the dungeon crawl...
