Christmas shopping underway

Nipped into Lowell and over to the Burlington Mall to start my shopping: I finally, *FINALLY* got the lovely painted statue of St. Nicholas that the gift shop at St. Joe's has had each Christmas for the past few years, but which always seems to get sold out before I can get one. At the Waldenbooks in Burlington, I got the wonderful "Autobiography of Santa Claus" (as told to Jeff Guinn), a really clever book that manages to seemlessly mix history, hagiography, legend and sheer whimsy into a delicious combination. I have been trying without much luck to get this one from the libraries, but it seems to have gone astray. St. Nicholas's feast day will be more of a delight this year than ever!

It took me a little while to figure it out, but I started reading their LJ (I found out they'd friended me), and I realized she's "Sallo", a dear friend of mine on the MxO, and an all-around *GREAT* person.
