Mom had an appointment with her therapist in Salem, NH, so I poked around the Barnes & Noble up there, and finally got my hands on a copy of the wonderful new "Supernatural" tie-in "The 'Supernatural' Book of Monsters, Spirits and Demons". Tons of info on the spooks the Winchester Brothers have tussled with, and quite a few different ones, which gets me curious about what critters they'll be facing off against this year:

I've heard that this year, as Sam races to try and break the deal that Dean cut with the Crossroad Demon, they'll be dealing with the Seven Deadly Sins, and since there's a whole chapter on Homunculi, I'm speculating Eric Kripke and his writers are borrowing a few pages from Fullmetal Alchemist. Also, the chapter on Golems has me curious, since these pre-Frankenstein's Monsters have fascinated me for a very long time. Most of the spirituality in the show has been Judaeo-Christian, but it would be great if they touched on a specificaly Judaic idea. One of the many things I like about this show is that they feature such a wide range of creatures, that I learn something from it almost every week, or something comes up that piques my curiosity.

I've also heard that a couple new recurring characters are coming into play, including a somewhat unhinged female hunter, and a nine-year-old kid who appears to be Dean's son. I'm looking forward to seeing the latter: this could be very funny, if the kid starts tagging along with the Brothers. "Road to Perdition" with spooks instead of gangsters, anyone??

Also got two little resin gargoyles at the Target in Salem: we were doing a little Hallowe'en stuff-looking -- Dad specifically wanted to show us a skeleton bride and groom that sing Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe"; he'd even dubbed them "Sonny and Cher" -- and since they were low-priced and there's no sales tax in New Hampshire, I couldn't resist.
