matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (American_Gods)

I posted an entry earlier I decided I'd rather you didn't see. In brief: my old parish church got officially closed today, and I just feel like I've had it with the Catholic Church, if we have to get abused by these hireling shepherds.

You're far from being the first person to feel like that. My dad is a prime example. I'm not sure why he lapsed but him being sick to the hind teeth of all the hypocrasy is likely to have been one of the key factors. Shame about your church, it was a nice building, and I say this as someone who spent three years living in a city that had way more then it's fair share of pretty churches. So does this mean that you're going to be joining me in no man's land or what?

I'm thinking of calling my religious designation "theological Switzerland", ala Harry Dresden (who'd be best described as a Theist, since he believes there's someone out there, he's just had more than his fair share of hypocracy... sounds familiar...)

Sounds better then my term for it, which is basically 'on the fence.' I sort of approached it from the other direction as it were. I've never had a religion (I haven't even been christened, much to the annoyence a certain family members) and quite frankly I don't think I've missed anything. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that there's a whole heap of stuff that can't be explained 'normally', am somewhat superstitious and have a tendency to talk/yell at the ceiling (usually a day or so before deadlines). I also have a suspision that Murphy may be real.

Oh, MR, I'm sorry. I know you folks were fighting so hard to keep it going.

Thanks... at least it took them three years to finally chloroform the parish. I haven't heard any news yet, but I doubt we went down without a last ditch fight. I hope the three Irish warrior women who verbally ripped our embezzling ex-pastor a new one were on hand.

Oh--I'm so sorry * hugs * I remember you were worried about this.

But just remember--though it may be meager comfort, that God knows what's in your mind, and that He's above all the idiots out there, including the ones who closed your church. * hugs again *

PS
If you reach theological Switzerland-can you tell me what train to take?

I'm so sorry about this, MR. I know you were fighting hard to keep your parish.
I say reflect on what keeps you in your particular faith...don't let the hypocrites and sheisters bring you down if the church is where you want to stay. I know the RC church didn't end up being right for me, but there are a lot of Catholics out there who don't like certain things about the church but stay out of their personal faith.
