matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Constantine)

The floor is ripped up down to the old floorboards, half of the walls are gutted, the old chimney has been exposed, the few cabinets we had have been removed, the cabinet around the sink has been removed and now it's resting on a crude frame so we can use it to wash the dishes. There are new electrical plugs being put in and there's a hole in the new sheetrock on the ceiling where a new ceiling light is going in over the sink, plus the old one has been moved to the middle of the ceiling. I've got a bit of a headache from the dust, and we had to banish the birds to the upstairs. Oz the jittery cockatiel doesn't mind rooming in the bathroom: it's nice and quiet and it's away from Merry, aka That Parakeet.

It's coming along, but it's very much a work in progress as yet.

I know what you mean. We got a new kitchen a couple of years ago and 'total' chaos doesn't begin to describe it. Pretty much the whole thing was gutted in one go and all the stuff that we were keeping or needed during the transitionary period was dumped in the dining room. Not to mention that the cooker got taken out early on and it took a while to get the new one in so we ended up having to use this second-hand electric mini-oven and hob thing that my dad had got from somewhere. Then the sink came out but there was something wrong with the new one so we had to wash the dishes outside in a couple of washing-up bowls for a bit. Basically, it was an entirely too long period of tripping over everything and improvisation. *sigh*
