There's a lot of blanks that could be filled in, in the Kings-verse. Is this world supposed to be an alternate U.S. of A. or is it set thirty years in the future, if the government as we know it caved in on itself? How did Saul Benjamin rise through the ranks from a humble soldier to the King of Shiloh? Who is his ladyfriend/concubine and how did they meet? What's the backstory on the enemy of his whom he claims to have executed, but whom he's keeping alive in a secret prison? What's Reverend Samuel's backstory?

Right now, though, it seems like everyone wants to jump David Shepherd's bones. David/Michelle is a given, since it's canonic (both in the series canon and it's inspiration). Jack Benjamin's Transparent Closet proclivities have pretty much caused a "You're asking for slashfic/badfic" situation. Plus, I'm one of the sorts who pretty much accept that there may well have been homoerotic overtones in the David/Jonathon friendship (being what I am, it would be hypocritical of me to not give some thought to this slant on the canon). It's just that it seems like every other "Kings"-fic is -- yep -- David/Jack fic. Grr. I'm overdosed on seeing it on the "Kings" comms I added to my friends list.

Then there's the wierder ones: I've seen Thomasina/Rose fic. Yes. Thomasina. The chew-nails-and-spit-pushpins head of the servants. Even if she did swing that way, I think she'd give a wither-a-giant-redwood glare to anyone who suggested what she was up to behind closed doors. To say nothing of how Queen Rose would.

And don't get me started on Saul/David fic. Ick. Ick. Ick. >.
