Random errands
Oct. 29th, 2009 11:57 pmWhich included:
--Exchanging a black LED pillar candle at one of the Hallowe'en stuff stores in Burlington: the one I had had would Not Light Up, even after I swapped out the batteries.
--And something that turned into "Wear the Old Coat, Buy the New Book". My imitation black leather trenchcoat has seen better days (the collar is cracked and peeling, I lost half the buttons) and I decided it's time to replace it. Only trouble is, the stores around here seem to be stocking either: fleece jackets (mind you, I love fleece, but this isn't what I'm looking for), wool coats (got one already, which I dubbed "the Goth-Father coat", since -- especially when I'm wearing the black fedora -- it looks like something a gangster with goth tendencies would wear) and those over-fluffy down jackets which I think are called "puffer coats" (and which I refuse to wear, since I personally think they make me look like the Michelin Tire Man). As I said to my dad, "I hate shopping for clothes, but when it turns into a project, I really hate it."
Ended up consoling myself with a little book and CD buying, to whit:
--P.C. and Kristin Cast's "House of Night: Tempted": Okay, not the most well-written series since the heroine veers toward being a bit of a Mary Sue, but it's fun to read and I love, *LOVE* the Cast duo's take on the vampire mythos.
--Book five of Yami no Matsuei/Descendants of Darkness. Sapphire Rose, my long-lost "A.I." fanficcing/anime fangirling buddy, I can see why you were hoopey over this series; ironically, the two anime/manga series that you journalled about the most have become my pet fixations as well. Your journal got a bit dull when you started getting into politics (which has never really been my cuppa), but I miss you, gal-pal...
