God Speed, Lennie Briscoe...

Last night, I was toasting Jude's 32nd birthday, but tonight I'm feeling completely different.

Jerry Orbach, or "Lennie Briscoe" to "Law & Order" fans like my mom and I, passed away early yesterday. I'd already started to miss him terribly after he left L&O (especially since the character they introduced to fill the gap just isn't able to give anything equal to the Lennie Briscoe chutzpah), though I was looking forward to seeing the new spin-off "Trial by Jury", which he was supposed to be a regular cast member in. I'm wondering if they're going to air that, or quietly shelve the project. I'm imagining that a lot of the L&O fanficcers will be writing fics dealing with Lennie's sudden passing...I'm actually looking forward to those; I might even write one myself.

It is really sad, but at least if he was suffering with the cancer he is out of his pain.
I always remember him as the Dad in "Dirty Dancing".
