I was going to go back into Lowell today and finish printing out the printouts I didn't get done... but it rained today, so I stayed home. But I managed to get my print jobs done, since we discovered that we had books due at the Tewksbury Library. Plus, I also took out:

--Bocaccio's "The Decameron": I've been meaning to read this for a while. Hey, it's one of the classics (even if it *does* contain off-color humor. Blankety-blank you critics who'd bowlderize it by cleaning it up!)

--Orson Scott Card's "Enchantment": a retelling of "Sleeping Beauty"; OSC is supposed to be the guest of honor at Boskone, so I thought I should better acquaint myself with his writing. To my knowledge, he seems to write mostly hard SF, which I sometimes have a hard time getting into, but this might do the trick.

--A handsomely illustrated children's retelling of "Gawain and the Green Knight".

--John Steinbeck's "The Acts of King Arthur and His Noble Knights": I read this ages ago, when I was in my teens and I was trying to write an epic poem that would combine all the legends of the Holy Grail into one story, and I felt I was due for a review. Steinbeck basically takes Thomas Malory's "Le Morte d'Arthur" and updates the style for a modern audience, making it a little more psychologically deep. This was the last book he wrote, and he never lived to complete it, but even in its incomplete state, it's impressive.

--Anita Diamant's "The Red Tent": My therapist had reccommended this, and several of my mom's penfriends have written to her about it, so I thought I'd take a look.

The Red Tent is GREAT, you are going to love it! I own a copy and read it often :) I think every woman should read it.
I'm a Steinbeck and Arthurnian legend fan, too :)
