Jack o'lantern jamboree!!

So, just got a start on bringing out some of our crazy collection of plastic jack o'lanterns to put them out in the yard. We're getting the roof reshingled and our windows replaced, so things have been a bit chaotic and my dad hasn't had a minute to dig out our Hallowe'en stuff. Only catch is, a lot of the Jack o'lanterns are stored out of my reach, making it hard to reach most of them, but I made a good start, which is what I'd hoped to accomplish.

Finished reading "A Clash of Kings", the second of A Song of Ice and Fire. I was contemplating picking up the third, but I decided I'd had enough of GRRM's style for a while, plus I seem to be slipping into a "no secks plz" phase. (Is it just me, or is there a lot of raping mentioned in that book?! It got triggery after a while and a couple of times the book nearly became airborne, up to and including a moment when I nearly embedded the book in the drywall. Personally, and from Things I've Heard, I'd like to implant GRRM with some NorPlant, along with a fair amount of the male cast of his epic...). Please tell me there are men in this world who have little interest in Certain Things, and/or are happy to Just Cuddle and Talk.

And yes, a certain headspace dweller is now treading very, very carefully around me, since he knows he's likely to get seriously mauled if he makes the wrong move or says the wrong thing.

Oh, yack. That's the kind of book I skip at all costs. It's bad for my blood pressure.

The book would be a lot better if there was less talk of rape, even though it involves realistic depictions of medieval warfare. I don't doubt for a moment things like that happened during medieval type wars, even in imaginary kingdoms, but come *on*.
