Inexplicable blackout...

Of the house current type. I was curled up in bed reading this morning, when I glanced at the clock and decided that I still had a few minutes to finish the chapter I was reading. A few minutes later, I glanced at the clock again to find that the hands had not moved. I thought perhaps I'd kicked the cord out of the socket, but no such luck; that socket has been known to do random things, so I thought nothing of it. So I got up to check my messages...only to find the wireless connection was out and the laptop had kicked over to the battery power. I thought the plug had worked loose, so I went to flip on the light in the room...to find that light was out. Only then did the notion of a blackout dawn on me (I hadn't had my green tea yet...). Not sure why the lights went out: there wasn't any strong wind today, and we haven't had any storms, and it's not exactly summer, when people would be running their air conditioners.

Also feeling vaguely restless and scatter-brained. I have the itch to create, but my mind keeps jumping from one project to another: right now I have about three or four fics in the works (two for comment_fic, two for love_bingo) in the process of being written, and I have a backlog of RP tags, but I seem to be lacking the presence of mind to apply myself to any of it. Weird, after I've had a fairly productive period, unless I just need some time to recharge the creative batteries.

Mm, I've been working on recharging the creative batteries today. I went through my library if canons represented by the population at a certain Mansion and pulled out a few to read, or re-read, and to my amazement, I selected three doorstops ("The Crimson Petal and the White", the Black Jewels Trilogy and a certain trio of Bricks that is getting a canon update.).

I had TCPatW out of the library, but ended up having to return since two renewals wasn't enough time to finish it, plus I think I had it out around a major holiday last year (Easter, I think), thus I decided it was better to get the book and read it at my leisure.

I think I was maybe a quarter the way through, but I'll have to try re-reading it to be sure...
