[FANFICTION/MEMAGE] Hurt/comfort
Mar. 8th, 2011 08:25 pmBecause I'm still getting out of the creativity rut I'd fallen into, and I'm looking for a few things to prime the pump, here's a fic meme swiped from
tomboy_typist:
Give me a fandom, character/pairing/set of siblings or platonic friends, and I'll write you a bit of fic (about 100 words) in which there is, well, illness or injury. Please warn me if you have any medical squicks
RP pairings and crossovers are welcome as well!

Date: 2011-03-15 05:01 am (UTC)She knew something was up with her brother. The night had passed quietly but of a sudden, there rose a clatter from the room across the way, followed by the strains of Glenn Miller's "Moonlight Serenade". The floor creaked as if someone was pacing. The music and the sounds continued till Aramat could bear it no more and she approached Muraki's door, knocking on it.
"It's open," Muraki's voice replied, unusually gruff. She lifted the latch and entered, the vial of her brother's blood hanging from a chain about her neck safeguarding her from the wards humming in the door frame.
She found him standing by the window, the moonlight gleaming on his silvery mane. A grey silk dressing gown enfolded his frame and his hair fell over his face, making the patch over his eye barely necessary. He had lit a cigarette, but it had burned down nearly to his fingers, barely touched. She approached him and took it from him, quickly dropping it into an ashtray on the desk beneath the window.
"What is it, Kazu?"
He snapped out of his apparent trance. "Did my pacing awaken you, dear sister? I shouldn't have put on that music."
"No, leave it be. It's lovely and melancholy."
"Befitting my mood," he said, trying to jest and failing. He turned to gaze out the window again. "He has gone."
"Who has?"
He sighs. "My student, my childe, my young temptation," he replied. "I looked for him in the aether of this place, but he is not there.
She expected that. The green eyed youth was not to be trusted and her brother had let his senses get the better of him. But she would not say this out loud. "Is there someone else that could take his place as your student."
He wagged his head. "Not one with such natural talent, and not one who inspired me so much as he did...."
She pressed herself to him and he put an arm about her waist. "You will find someone else to pass on your knowledge."
"Perhaps. In time I will find another student. But no one could replace him, not in my heart."
It dawned on her that this was more than a mere infatuation coming to its usual end. Her brother had been in love. And that love lead to pain the moment that Steerpike had vanished. Which only confirmed her reasons not to trust him.
