matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Constantine)

Worked on a DegSep-related ficlet today: an account of Emily Anderson's sudden self-substantiation, and the emotional fallout left behind among her loved ones. The POV jumps around a bit, at least in the draft, but I'm having fun with this: One of the POVs is from a three-month old Blaise de Merovee who's wondering where one of his mommy's helpmates is.

Went to the Tewksbury Library tonight: renewed "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell", and I traded in the copy of "Sahara" that I'd taken out last time: the binding was broken. Also took out:

--Candace Bushnell's "Sex in the City" (The copy I got seemed to have strayed in from the Newburyport library. Wierd.), which I just started skimming through: I'm finding it at one in the same time appalling and hysterical.

--Lauren Weisberger's "The Devil Wore Prada", which I've been hunting down for months: an exasperatedly funny novel about a young woman's hellish experience working for a hotsty-totsy magazine editor.

And we finally got a break from the nasty heat and humidity we'd had for a solid week. The temp was all of 57 degrees this afternoon. I'll take that over 89 degrees and humidity so bad it packs up my sinuses.

Watch for something special coming soon on this LJ, something I haven't posted here since February... if Photobucket will stop causing my browser to freeze as solid as a brick...

Edited to Add, 12.22 am., June 15th: Grrr... whoever invented spyware, I want to *KILL* them... my comp started acting wierd even after I ran a scan, killed some bugs, restarted it, etc. though it seems to be fine for now...

::Now watching the comp like a hawk...::

Heh, heh, heh... before I started fangurling him, I used to refer to the Merv as "that anNOYing French guy". How much I've changed...

On this side of the pond, there aren't too many films that give the sexy French beast very much screentime. You'll have to wait for "Sahara" to come out on video, since it was out earlier this year (his character in that has been described as "a toned-down version of the Merovingian"). And his parts in "Timeline" and "Catwoman" were abysmally small. I've yet to see any of his French-made films, but I'm trying to get my hands on "Colette", on a friend's strong reccommendation.

Well, if you want recommendations, it's Dédales for its smartness and his acting in it, but Colette-une femme libre for what you already know. Sexinesss inspite of horrific moustache. Acting as well, but, well. Colette is actually a tv-miniseries, I think, tho it is available on DVD, yes. On Connait La Chanson is delightful, and he is charming as hell in that, even more than in Colette, plus gets to do a bit of his huffy martyr-act and angsting in that as well, so they keep reminding me of the Merovingian. Pas Sur La Bouche has him singing and speaking French in a dreadful American accent, cute and funny film/him.

If you can find Jefferson in Paris, that's another of his English language ones. Plays Comte de Lafayette in it, not a big role but he does get to sing a teeny tiny bit in it and is most personable in the role. I think he also told some bad joke in that, too, another thing he often ends up doing in these things. I've yet to find his Last September (or was it November?), an Irish-English film he seems to be in quite a bit more.

Thanks much. My local library system seems woefully understocked, though. Idiots.
