matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Merv_Crest)

Work proceeds as usual: Not much to talk about, but at least the teenagers are keeping it down to a dull roar, except that I honestly wanted to bite one of them for griping about the dress code. Try working at an office, babygirl... welcome to the real world.

The Houseparty seems to have had a spell of Midsummer Madness last night. The Merv was playing Puck, ie. slipping the "love-in-idleness" variant of the very special code... I think I spotted Cecie Martin getting friendly with a rather puzzled Constantine. We won't start about the odd conversation I heard pass between Flood and the Merv at three a.m. this morning...

And we seem to have a new member of the collective, another "Matrix" related one, namely, the Keymaker. He showed up yesterday, though I've had flashes of him in the past. I was reading "The Idiot's Guide to Taoism" yesterday, when it dawned on me that the Keymaker is an extremely Taoist character. He's kind of the wise man who seems like a total dunce when you first meet him... but then you get to know him better, and you realize how useful he really is. That's when I felt the little guy's quiet, slightly bemused presence in my headspace.

There's only one problem: he's deathly afraid of the Merv (obviously: the bastard kept him cooped up in that dungeon for two cycles of the Matrix, making keys) and of Flood (who captured him in the first place, and thus pulled himself up by the bootstraps into his present position), so being in the same space with those two makes the poor Keymaker very nervous to say the least. I've reassured him that there are rules in place in the Houseparty, and that no one can lay a finger on him, or else they risk getting smacked with the Hammer of Smiting Things With, but he's still gunshy. ::Hugst the Keymaker:: If anyone has any suggestions on how to help him cope, I/we'd really appreciate it.

I've never had that problem, mostly because the inhabitants of my corner of the Dreaming are all my creations (although they still don't do everything they're told). Can't you just get one or two of the House party's good guys to hang around with him? I'd never be able to do it myself, but then all my characters stick to their own worlds, blissfully ignorent that they are controlled by a higher power (ie. Me. *evil grin*). The Houseparty sounds more interesting though, I can only observe one or two characters at a time and they generally do very little on their own. Lately I've been occupied with my latest contrabutions to the Gaiman-verse, Tel Jones, Neil Freer (guess why I've called him Neil)and a currently unnamed girl who'e Destruction's grandkid.

Cecie and Constantine have started playing rounds of "Keep Flood and the Merv away from the Keymaker"; I have to admit, the Keymaker is rather fond of Cecie ("fond of" in a just-friends way; the little fellow is decidedly asexual, which is something of a relief, considering the number of hormonal and non-celibate houseguests in here), since she looks like Trinity to him. Funny how they seem to work things out on their own: it's probably a survival mechanism so they don't kill each other.

P.S. I'll be posting a write-up on the Houseparty shortly; there's so many of them in there that it might take a while... And what's this about Destruction's grandkid? Sounds interesting!

It's just an idea I've had. I think it was inspired by a thread on the Neil Gaiman message board which speculated on how many Endless/human combos there were. Add a fic I read where Dee had a kid and things sort of snowballed. There's five of them in total, I mailed you a fic featuring the older two. The younger three are still at the vauge and hazy stage where stuff still isn't certain. I'll tell you more when I figure out the details.
