matrixrefugee: the word 'refugee' in electric green with a background of green matrix code (Lambert_Wilson)

Well, I know why I felt so miserable yesterday: I'm coming down with the headcold which the woman who did my hair had. [Ranting](Lesson to people who work in beauty parlors: If you have a cold, either take a day off from work, or wear protective gear, ie. a surgical-type mask and vinyl gloves. That way, you won't be getting the customers sick, which could make them not want to go back to your shop...)[/ranting] I've been taking it easy and zealously taking Airborne, which seems to be beating the symptoms into submission.

Good news -- great news, actually, among the Houseparty: at 12.23 this morning, Blaise Arnaut Lambert Francis Merovee, Ref and the Merv's baby, was born. He's 20 inches long, weighing in at 12 pounds, with his dad's reddish-brown hair and an infantile version of his nose. Mom and baby are doing well: Ref's tired, but she's delighted to hold her son; Blaise himself is getting accustomed to breathing on his own and nursing... and getting used to all these strange beings around him. There was a bit of a dodgy moment when he was coming out: part of the membrane was caught over his face, but at least it wasn't restricting his breathing (according to Constantine, that's a slightly unsettling sign: if a kid is born around midnight, and the membrane gets caught over their head, it means they might be able to see demons). The elder Merovee couldn't be more pleased: he's acting more insufferable than ever.

Now I have to get used to a crying baby in my headspace. Kid's got good lungs, I'll tell yah...

It seems to me that your head is becomeing a reality in it's own right. I never go into detail over stuff like that, the kid just sort of appears. I think I might be a bit squeemish in that respect. John's comment was interesting, I might use it at some point. Tel can already do stuff like that but in his case it's the result of being part Endless on one side and having a history of psychic types on the other. Unusually, a couple of my character's have actually decided to pass comment on the new arrival. Micheal says something to the effect of, "Good luck kid, your dad can't be much worse then mine." Tel's got some advice for Ref. "If Blaise says he can see monsters, don't dismis it out of hand if there's a strong possiblity that he can see stuff like that. It'll make things worse, belive me I know."

Ref's reply: "It's going to be interesting to see what kind of talents my little one has when he gets bigger: his father has some strange gifts, and I don't have any special abilities, even if I *did* unplug from the Matrix nine years ago -- I can't hyperjump to save my life."

There's definatly going to be something diffrent about the kid but there's no way of really knowing what. Hybrids are funny that way (although, I suppose Blaise is only one in the Matrix). The Rabble have all got something, even if in Dana's case it's more of lack of talents then anything else (although she's inherited most of her grandfather's good points). And most of them aren't even 50/50 (the exception is the twins). Hope virtual genetics aren't too hard on the kid.

**Fuzz wanders over, happy as a bald rat can be**

"OOh! Cutsy wootzie widdle squeelie!" **gives Blaise a motherly ratty lick.

SR stands back at the door, holding his hat in shy embarassment while Tapps' beak is being held firmly closed by Crane. crane is trying for the sake of sanity to SHUT THE BI+RD UP. :- . Nl Simply dances about, throwing confetti and handing out cold pop to everyone involved!

Happy hatch day, Blaise, Merv and Ref!!
